Well I hope clicking on my post won't be a huge disappointment for all you nail art fans but my contribution to the Makeup Wars Halloween Manicure Challenge is fairly sad. My nails happen to be in horrifying condition at the moment. I've been under some stress and have resorted to nail biting again. Given the teeny, tiny surface of my stubby nail beds I didn't have much of a canvas to work with so this is a cramped first attempt at some free hand nail art.
I stopped into Shoppers Drug Mart because I didn't own a black nail polish. I grabbed the $1.99 Essence Black is Black polish because I didn't figure I would have much occasion to use black nail lacquer. Silly me I was forgetting that I've been wanting a black polish for a while to use as a base under various glitters and flakies. I haven't tested out a full application of it yet to see how it performs but trying to use it in the manner I did today it seemed a little sheer. I also picked up the Quo by Orly Instant Artist Kit which includes a Dotter Duo tool and a Detailer Brush. I used the Detailer Brush for this look. I had to trim a stray hair that was too long as soon as I started using it. I found myself wishing it was a finer brush but I may have messed up the point a bit trimming the stray hair. The base is Deborah Lippmann Lara's Theme.
