Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Eyeliner in Rose Platine – Swatches and Review

I thought it was time I did a proper review of Chanel Rose Platine eyeliner. I posted about it when I first received my Chanel Summer 2011 haul here and spoke about it again in this FOTD. I wasn’t very pleased with Rose Platine originally and felt there must be something wrong with me as everyone else seemed to be utterly wowed by it. Well I’ve made a point of using the liner a couple times a week and it has definitely grown on me. It is a sort of champagne taupe with warm multi-coloured sparkle. It is gorgeous on the lower lash line and if layered can even give a nice effect on the upper lashline. This liner is INSANELY long wearing. When they say waterproof they mean it! After I was done taking these pics I took a dry hand towel and scrubbed at it vigorously and it looked untouched! Truly and honesty untouched! I then took a wet paper towel and scrubbed at it and all that managed to do was dull the finish a bit. The next morning I got out of the shower only to realize the faint appearance of it was still there after washing with Dove soap. If this is what can be expected of the other Chanel Stylo Yeux liners then I think I may have to check them out. I haven’t really been a pencil liner gal but recently I’ve started acquiring and enjoying a few.

Dior Electric Tropics Collection 2011 Dior Addict Lipstick in 545 Fire is Smokin!

I took a chance ordering this orange…yes orange lipstick. This is my first Dior Addict lipstick and I wanted something a little different.  I knew the formula was sheer and I didn’t have a shade anything like this in my collection so Dior Addict Lipstick in 545 Fire was my choice. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!! I hope all the Dior Addict lipsticks have a formula just like this because it’s perfect. This is what I wanted the Chanel Rouge Coco Shines to be. Sheer, light on the lips, without feeling too creamy. I can apply it without a mirror and it last fairly well considering the sheer formula. It wears off evenly and leaves a bit of a stain. I find the Rouge Coco Shines have too much of a creamy slip to them for my liking and I don’t like how they wear off. I love the weightless feel of the Dior Addict in Fire. I’m also incredibly pleased with the Laura Mercier Gel lip color but more on that later ;-) The only thing that would hold me back from purchasing another Dior Addict lipstick is the ridiculous packaging. I know it is supposed to look luxurious but frankly I find it over the top, too large and just plain gaudy.

Fire is orange. There is no other way to describe it. It doesn’t have any visible shimmer but has a very glossy shine. It is sheer enough to let your natural lip colour tone down the orange to a beautiful shade. I didn’t have full sun when I took these so it isn’t capturing just how almost neon orange this lipstick is.

Giving the Chanel Lilium Quad Another Chance

I thought I’d pull out the Chanel Summer 2011 collection Les 4 Ombres quad Lilium out and give it a second chance. I’d only wore it once when I first received and reviewed the summer collection here.

I do like the shades in this palette but I just don’t find they do much for me. The green is gorgeous but I do have a lot of Chanel quads with blackened greens as well as the gorgeous Le Metier de Beaute Kaleidoscope. The taupe shade is pretty but I seem to be the black sheep when it comes to taupe. They just don’t seem to work for me? I don’t know what the problem is. I think I may end up parting with this quad. I guess we’ll see.

I love Chanel shadows because the last very well for me. I also love using the darkest shade in the quad wet to line. Here is how my eyes looked after 12 hours. My brows have wore off a lot (I think I was rubbing them a bit) but my eyeshadow still looks almost exactly the same as it did when I left the house 12 hours earlier.
