Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Refined Russet ~ Swatches, Photos, Review

The Maybelline Fall releases have been such a drugstore beauty treasure. I don't typically concern myself with the latest additions to the drugstore aisles but the recent offerings of exceptional quality and colour from brands such as Maybelline has made ignoring them almost a crime. One of the newly released fall shades is Refined Russet. It is a rich, warm brown that offers excellent pigmentation and coverage and comfortable wear. The Maybelline Color Sensational lipsticks don't seem to have any scent to

Maybelline Color Show Nail Polish in Avante Green ~ Photos, Swatches, Review

Maybelline Color Show Nail Polish is another knock out Limited Edition release for Fall 2012 from Maybelline.

This metallic grassy green duochrome was the first of the six new LE fall shades to catch my eye in the display. On the nails this polish looks a gorgeous, eye catching, shade of green a majority of the time. Unfortunately the duo chrome shift to a more golden green and blue are not nearly as evident on the nails as in the bottle. Regardless of this effect not translating to the

Maybelline Downtown Brown Color Show Nail Polish for Fall 2012 ~ Swatches, Photos, Review

Maybelline Downtown Brown is a nail polish shade reminiscent of MAC Club eyeshadow and Blue Brown pigment. In other words...it's freakin awesome! These pictures don't do it justice at all. The formula is nice. It applies evenly and with good coverage. The following pictures are two coats. The only thing I noticed is that it seemed to take a long time to dry even with my fast dry topcoat on top. Considering the gorgeous colour selection, lovely application, and $3.99 price tag I certainly can't complain. This next one shows the blue

butter LONDON Gobsmacked from Autumn/Winter 2012 ~ Swatches, Photos, Review

butter LONDON Gobsmacked took me by surprise. I didn't think I would be wowed by this one but turns out it's one of my favourites from the collection. I'm not naturally attracted to nail polishes in the grey family. Silly me thinking they would be boring! The silver glitter in the deep charcoal base is truly mesmerizing. So simple yet so fantastic. I think read somewhere someone comparing it to diamonds sparkling in asphalt and it is the perfect description! I had good wear time from this polish and it is a PITA to remove like any

butter LONDON Lovely Jubbly Nail Lacquer for Autumn/Winter 2012

It's time for some more butter LONDON Autumn/Winter 2012 pretties! Lovely Jubbly is certainly the "funnest" shade in the collection and completely appropriate for year round wear. Lovely Jubbly is a playful mix of very fine magenta pink and gold glitter along with larger magenta, blue, and red glitter in a clear base. The overall effect is a purple magenta shade that leans one way or the other depending on the lighting. The glitter is quite dense so one coat is all you would need to use this as a glitter topcoat or three coats

butter LONDON Trustafarian from Autumn/Winter 2012 ~ Swatches, Photos, Review

butter LONDON recently had a 30% off promo and I decided to pick up the Autumn/Winter 2012 collection set. I am so happy I decided to get the full set. Every one of these polishes is gorgeous and unique. Trustafarian is a gorgeous light sage green holo. I know some have expressed difficulties with the shade of green on their skintone but I am loving it on mine. It applied perfectly! I have issues with holos in the past but one coat of this even offered a very even application. Two coats brings full opacity. It has wore absurdly

New from Make Up For Ever! Aqua Rouge, Aqua Brow, and the Black Tango Palette

This has to be one of the most stunning promotional images I have EVER seen. I am so madly in love with this picture. So much so I think I may make it my desktop image rather than the picture of my kids that's there now. OK maybe I'd get in a bit of trouble for that...Make Up For Ever has some incredible new products for us this season. First up is the new Aqua Rouge ($27 CAD). It is waterproof, smudge proof, kiss proof long-wearing lip colour. One end houses the opaque liquid lipstick while the other contains the clear topcoat

China Glaze Magnetix II Collection

Have you tried the magnetic nail trend yet? I have yet to experiment with magnetic nail polishes but forget the magnetic effect...the shades being release as part of the China Glaze Magnetix II collection are stunning on their own! Magnetic nail art took the beauty world by storm earlier this year, creating a nail art force that was hard for anyone to resist.  Following the phenomenal success of its first-generation Magnetix collection, China Glaze® introduces Magnetix II, an expanded second collection of magnetic nail

Burberry Sheer Eye Shadow No 24 Mulberry for Fall 2012 ~ Swatches, Photos, Review

Well I finally got around to hauling some Burberry. Being that there is no way to order it online in Canada, and the fact I might make it to Holt Renfrew in Toronto maybe once a year, I just hadn't found a way to make it happen even though there are several items I have been wanting for a very long time. Luckily I was able to take advantage of a really great GWP deal at Nordstrom a couple weeks ago and have a really lovely and generous friend ship my purchases up to me.I thought I would show you the Burberry Sheer Eye Shadow in

Bright-n-Smoky with Kevin James Bennett for Kryolan

The wonderfully talented Kevin-James Bennett has delved into the bolder Fall 2012 trends and created 3 looks for the season for Kryolan Professional Makeup. Here is what Kevin had to say about his creations:Let’s face facts, I’m a makeup junkie (to the core) and I’m in cosmetic nirvana because the trends for Fall/Winter 2012 are not just a re-boot of the same old “natural” look.I’ve created these 3 looks with a distinctly fashion forward edge but retained a modern elegance by careful editing and specific placement. These are not

Dior Golden Jungle Crocodile Leather Effect Nails Duo from Fall 2012 ~ Swatches, Photos, Review

I don't know why but as soon as I saw the Dior promo pictures for the Golden Jungle Crocodile Leather Effect Nail Duo I just had to have it. Weird since I had NEVER tried a crackle polish. I know crackle has been all the rage for a while now but it just never appealed to me. I had no interest in trying it. This deep khaki green over shimmering gold with the crocodile skin effect just looked lovely though. Crackle and all! I had no idea when I would make it to a Shoppers Drug Mart or The Bay to pick a set up and worried about it

Guerlain 14 Les Fauves 4 Ecrin Couleurs Palette from Fall 2012 ~ Swatches, Photos, Review

As you may or may not have noticed I went on a bit of a shopping spree last weekend! I had seen some reviews of the Guerlain Les Fauves Ecrin 4 Couleurs palette but for some reason never gave them much thought. Cafe Makeup in particular was very won over by Les Fauves. I think maybe the fact the palette is so warm is what initially had me put it out of my mind but as soon as I swatched it in person and experienced the glorious pigment and texture I knew it had to be mine. This is just such an amazing palette of colours to bring

Dior 5 Couleurs Eye Shadow Palette in 774 Golden Savannah from Fall 2012 Golden Jungle Collection ~ Swatches, Photos, Review

Isn't she gorgeous? I haven't been much of a Dior quint fan in the past. I've often found them too sheer and shimmery for my tastes. Golden Savannah on the other hand... Holy #$%& it is beautiful. If these are your kinds of shades then this palette is a must have. Rich, silky, pigmented, buttery, dimensional goodness. I love the Dior packaging. The deep blue compact with the CD initials that seem to glow from within just exudes class. I much prefer it over shiny gold and silver compacts that scratch and finger print so easily.Just
