Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Refined Russet ~ Swatches, Photos, Review

The Maybelline Fall releases have been such a drugstore beauty treasure. I don’t typically concern myself with the latest additions to the drugstore aisles but the recent offerings of exceptional quality and colour from brands such as Maybelline has made ignoring them almost a crime.

One of the newly released fall shades is Refined Russet. It is a rich, warm brown that offers excellent pigmentation and coverage and comfortable wear. The Maybelline Color Sensational lipsticks don’t seem to have any scent to speak of. They come in colour coordinating packaging that I find quite appealing. All of the Color Sensational lipsticks I have tried provide good wear time and wear off nicely without leaving any obscene rings around the mouth.

Refined Russet totally reminds me of the lipstick shades I used to rock in High School. Yes in the 90′s! I know, I know… I’m old! I am actually shocked that I had nothing like this at all in my collection. I really need to start experimenting with more brown toned shades again.

What do you think? Have you tried any of the Maybelline Fall shades. I should have picked up the taupe one when I had the chance.

Maybelline Color Show Nail Polish in Avante Green ~ Photos, Swatches, Review

Maybelline Color Show Nail Polish is another knock out Limited Edition release for Fall 2012 from Maybelline.
This metallic grassy green duochrome was the first of the six new LE fall shades to catch my eye in the display.
On the nails this polish looks a gorgeous, eye catching, shade of green a majority of the time. Unfortunately the duo chrome shift to a more golden green and blue are not nearly as evident on the nails as in the bottle. Regardless of this effect not translating to the nails as I had hoped I am still really happy with my purchase. The polish applies well and only needs two coats for sufficient coverage. I got average wear time from this formula.
With a price tag of only $3.99 and an outstanding colour selection Maybelline is making it difficult for me to splurge on $15-$20 nail lacquers anymore!

Maybelline Downtown Brown Color Show Nail Polish for Fall 2012 ~ Swatches, Photos, Review

Maybelline Downtown Brown is a nail polish shade reminiscent of MAC Club eyeshadow and Blue Brown pigment. In other words…it’s freakin awesome!

These pictures don’t do it justice at all. The formula is nice. It applies evenly and with good coverage. The following pictures are two coats. The only thing I noticed is that it seemed to take a long time to dry even with my fast dry topcoat on top. Considering the gorgeous colour selection, lovely application, and $3.99 price tag I certainly can’t complain.

This next one shows the blue tones that make an appearance on occasion:

I found this at Shoppers Drug Mart. Stay tuned for 3 more shades from the Fall 2012 release.
