At Home Facial Peels. Have You? Would You?

Have you ever tried an at home facial peel? I have never had a facial peel. Be it done on location by a professional or at home. I have always wanted to try a facial peel to see if it would improve my skin’s tone and texture but the expense and inconvenience has kept me from trying it. I’m sure living in big metropolitan areas it is easier to find affordably priced options but living in a rural area as I do it can get quite pricey. That is why I like the idea of trying it at home. The Brazilian Peel is a one month system of 4 weekly peel treatments that you can do at home and it’s available at Sephora. It was named one of Allure magazine’s Best Beauty Breakthroughs in 2010, and has good ratings on Sephora, so I feel fairly confident giving this 30 percent Glycolic Acid peel a try. I’m going to be testing this out but in the meantime I would love to hear your experiences with facial peels and whether you have ever tried an at home version? Were you happy with the experience? Would you try it again?

Algenist Triple-Action Micropolish & Peel Review

My first experience with Algenist was with their UV Defense Fluid SPF 50. My new Holy Grail facial sunscreen. Unfortunately, that particular Algenist product is not available in Canada. Likely because of the sunscreen ingredients not being approved yet. These things always seem to take so much time. Anyways, I have their new Triple-Action Micropolish & Peel with Alguronic Acid to share with you today. I now have another favourite product to add to my skincare routine from Algenist.

Leveraging the science of biotechnology, this advanced microdermabrasion peel resurfaces the skin with a 10% acid duo (patent-pending Alguronic Acid + Glycolic Acid) in a potent combination with a 10% fruit enzyme complex and micro polishing crystals to immediately transform skin texture & tone. Micro polishing crystals mechanically lift off larger skin-dulling cells and buff rough skin to reveal a new radiant skin surface. The acid duo and fruit enzyme complex work deep into the epidermis to lift away dull skin cells and to reveal skin that appears regenerated, smoother and more even.

The formula uses an active ingredient combo of Alguronic Acid and Glycolic Acid to generate dermal cell renewal by removing the top layer of cells to regenerate smoother, more even skin underneath. I have been really enjoying having both the benefit of mechanical exfoliation from the micro-polishing crystals and the enzymatic action of the pumpkin and pomegranate fruit enzymes to reveal more radiant skin. I can’t say I’ve encountered any other products combining a 10% acid duo along with a 10% fruit enzyme complex AND micro polishing crystals. It really is a a powerhouse product acting as both a manual exfoliation and a peel.

The Triple-Action Micropolish & Peel is suitable for all skin types. It is dermatologist tested, non-comedogenic, hypoallergenic, not tested on animals. All Algenist products are formulated without parabens, sulfates, synthetic dyes, phthalates, GMOs, and Triclosan.

Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Glycerin, Glycolic Acid, Lactobacillus/Pumpkin Ferment Extract, Lactobacillus/Punica Granatum Fruit Ferment Extract, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Hydrogenated Jojoba Oil, Sodium Hydroxide, Algae Exopolysaccharides, Salix Nigra (Willow) Bark Extract, Algae Extract, Glucosamine HCL, Galactoarabinan, Camellia Oleifera Leaf Extract, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Leuconostoc/ Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Urea, Saccharomyces Cerevisiae Extract, Polysorbate 60, Sorbitan Isostearate, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hexylene Glycol, Disodium EDTA, Magnesium Oxide, Fragrance (Parfum), Limonene, Phenoxyethanol.

I have been using this product about 1-2 times a week for almost 2 months now. It is very effective and I have been really happy with the results. It has been my saviour when dealing with the peeling skin from the retinol product I have been testing. I simply use the Triple-Action Micropolish & Peel about two days following using the retinol treatment. The only issue I have had was completely my fault. I went a little gangbusters when using this about a week ago and made my face really raw. I highly suggest following the directions and not giving that little extra arm power to your treatment for a special night out. Definitely not worth the aftermath! I will continue to use this a couple times a week and can’t wait to see how my skin continues to improve.
