How Vichy Skincare Saved My Dry Winter Skin in Preparation for Spring

Vichy’s scientific skincare expert Dr. Sarah Gora made some personalized skincare recommendations to help me deal with my dry and dehydrated skin. I must say she was bang on in her recommendations because my skin has made a rather dramatic turnaround. The dryness and tightness is gone as well as any flakiness and most of the redness. The recommended products were:

Eau Thermale Thermal Spa Water ($9.50 US for travel size shown) – I spray this on my skin after cleansing prior to applying my skincare. The Vichy Thermal Spa Water contains a unique combination of 15 rare minerals and it feels so cool and refreshing. I am really loving this added step in my routine.

Purete Thermale Soothing Cleansing Milk for Dry Sensitive Skin ($18 US) – I use this cream cleanser after removing makeup with my cleansing oil. It is enriched with antioxidant Vitamin E and hydrating glycerin and leaves my skin feeling hydrated and soft.

Aqualia Thermal Daily Care Rich Cream ($31 US) – I use this cream often in the mornings to leave my skin plump, hydrated and ready for makeup.

LiftActiv Anti-Wrinkle and Firming Care for Dry to Very Dry Skin ($50 US) – This rich cream contains 6% shea butter and 5% Rhamnose which is a naturally derived plant sugar proven to help boost skin rejuvenation. I’ve been loving adding a dropper full of Vichy Neovadiol Elixir facial oil into the LiftActiv cream for an intensely hydrating overnight facial a couple times a week.

Since I am prone to clogged pores on my nose I would skip the richer moisturizers in this area some evenings and apply Vichy Normaderm Hyaluspot to keep that area clear.

Now that my skin feels hydrated, plump, and healthy I am going to finally delve into the Vichy line testing out the Vichy LiftActive Advanced Concentrate Daily Wrinkle Corrector and the Vichy Idealia Life Serum and treat my skin to some night treatments with the Vichy ProEVEN Night Overnight Concentrate.

Boost Your Skin’s Glow with Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster

Clarins Glow Booster 1

The new Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster ($30 CAD/$30 US) has got to be one of the most genius products I’ve seen in a while. It is just so perfect! It is a made-to-measure self tan product.

Clarins Glow Booster 2

The cute 15ml vial/bottle holds the self-tanning liquid that you can add to your favourite moisturizer. Simply press the bottom of the vial to dispense 2-3 drops which is all you need to build a natural and beautiful colour that gives your complexion that added radiance and glow. No gross self tanner smell and no worrying about finding a formula that works with your skin and doesn’t break you out or cause sensitivity. You don’t have to add another topical product to your routine. You simply mix the drops of Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster with the product you are already using. One bottle will last you about 3 months.

Clarins Glow Booster 3

Very precise quantities of natural DHA and erythrulose were studied by Clarins Research, resulting in a formula that promotes a very natural-looking tanned colour. It gives fair complexions a pretty sun-kissed glow and warms darker complexions in just a few hours. You can also adjust the intensity of the tan by reapplying every day, until the desired colour is obtained. When the product is no longer applied, the tan gradually fades.

Shown with the Clarins HydraQuench Cream for Normal to Dry Skin. I perfect combo transitioning from dry winter ravaged skin into spring.

Clarins Glow Booster 4

I am loving the incredibly natural results this product offers and the way I can customize it’s use to suit me perfectly. I like my fair skin so I like that I can use it very moderately to give me a little bit of healthy colour and balance out my skin with my freckles while looking completely natural.

Biotherm SKIN.BEST is Anti-Aging Skincare for a Youthful Expression Against Aging in Motion

I am really starting to notice the effects of aging on my skin. In fact the other week I posted on social media that I was considering giving up smiling because I was so fed up with the changes I saw happening. Biotherm has developed SKIN.BEST which is the first instant correcting and youth-protecting concentrate to target early skins of aging and acknowledges that the signs of aging are most apparent when we are making facial expressions. The wrinkles around our eyes, the deepening nasolabial folds, and the one that has been increasingly driving me nuts; smile lines. For me I find it’s not only the smile lines but the total change in appearance and texture of my skin in that area. Biotherm is addressing our “aging in motion”.

Biotherm Skin Best 1

The key ingredients in the line are:

Astaxanthin – Astaxanthin is a powerful antioxidant and Astaxanthin rich H.Pluvialis algae extract helps protect keratinocytes from UVA-induced stress which decreases the production of free radicals. It has a longer potency period than most antioxidants like Vitamin C or E meaning it can handle multiple free radicals simultaneously without becoming toxic at high doses. Studies have shown it to be 500-1000x more powerful than Vitamin E and much more powerful than other carotenoids such as lutein, lycopene, and B-carotene.

Spirulina – Spirulina is categorized as one of the greatest energy source on earth being one of the most well balanced sources of nutrition on the plant. It is comprised of at least 60% vegetable protein which means it has double the protein concentration of soy. Now we aren’t going to eat our SKIN.BEST skincare so why is this important? Well the same way it provides vital energy as a food source it also acts as a cellular energy booster to the skin when applied as well as providing cellular protection against free radicals.

The two products I have been testing from the line are the SKIN.BEST Serum-In-Cream and the SKIN.BEST Day Cream SPF 15 for Normal Combination Skin (there is also one available for Dry Skin).

Biotherm Skin Best 2

The SKIN.BEST Serum-In-Cream ($62 CAD/30 ml) provides the efficacy of a serum with the added comfort of a cream. It moisturizes and softens while giving a blurring and mattifying effect on the skin.

The SKIN.BEST Day Cream SPF 15 for Normal Combination Skin ($65 CAD/50 ml) offers the antioxidant youth protecting benefits of the SKIN.BEST actives in a protective cream. There is also a more richly nourishing cream available for Dry Skin also with SPF 15.

If you are looking for more sun protection you could try the SKIN.BEST CC Cream SPF 25 ($40 CAD/30 ml) available in Light and Medium that offers colour correction.

SKIN.BEST Serum-In-Cream, Day Cream SPF 15, and CC Cream are available now. There will also be SKIN.BEST Night and Eye formulations coming out this Fall.
