Lise Watier Something Sweet Eau de Toilette and Sweet Lips Yummy Lip Balm ~ Photos and Review

IMG_2316 (2)

Lise Watier has launched a new fragrance exclusive to Shoppers Drug Mart called Something Sweet (Eau de Toilette Spray 50ml/$59 CAD). Now typically if you threw the terms sweet and gourmand at me in reference to a perfume my instinctive reaction would be to gag. I don’t do heavy “sweet” scents. Lise Watier Something Sweet however, was a pleasant surprise. While it does have the sweet element, it is also light and refreshing at the same time. In fact it is quite delightful!

Something Sweet is the cheerful new scent that captures a gourmand’s embrace of youthful vitality. With its sparkling top notes of Champagne bubbles and Rainbow Sorbet, refreshing accents of Melon Fizz and Red Fruit, and a delectable base of Juicy Raspberry and Chocolate Mousse, Something Sweet is distinctive and playful.

As part of the release there are also three limited edition lip balm pots. I have the Yummy Lip Balm (9g/$12.50 CAD) in Berries. It is a light feeling balm with a sweet berry scent and flavour. It has a very, very fine shimmer that gives just a hint of glow to the lips. The Yummy Lip Balm is also available in Chocolate and Pistachio. I would love to see what the Pistachio version is like!

These should be available now at Shoppers Drug Mart. There will also be a Something Sweet Roll-On (10ml/$25 CAD) being released in August 2013.

Shoppers Drug Mart and Lise Watier are also running a really cool contest as part of the Something Sweet release. Lise Watier is on a nationwide search for a young woman who embodies the delectably light-hearted spirit of Something Sweet. To participate simply snap a pic of yourself in the Something Sweet environment at your favourite Shoppers Drug Mart and post it to Instagram (or submit directly). You can register at somethingsweet.lisewatier.com. The five girls with the most votes will be declared finalists and win a prize valued at $1,000 each. From the five finalists they will select an ambassador of Something Sweet and she will be awarded a 6-month contract as the face of the fragrance!

Hourglass No. 28 Lip Treatment Oil ~ A Decadent Indulgence for Lips that Delivers ~ A Review

Hourglass has come out with a lip treatment that offers lips similar anti-aging treatment advantages as their No 28 Primer serum offers skin. The Hourglass No. 28 Lip Treatment Oil ($49 CAD/$42 US) hydrates, rejuvenates, and regenerate lips with an advanced blend of botanicals, vitamins, and three powerful active ingredients.

IMG_2124

The amazing formula boasts:

  • A richly concentrated oil blend that fuses botanicals, vitamins and cutting-edge actives to deliver anti-aging, hydration, regeneration and essential protection to the delicate lip area.
  • No. 28 has both short- and long-term benefits for the lips. The combination of essential oils, plant oils and vitamins works on contact to condition lips, relieve dryness and chapping, and shield against the elements.
  • Like No. 28 Primer Serum, this product is enriched with 14 essential oils: Bois De Rose, Lavender, Geranium, Petitgrain, Lemon, Rosemary, Vanilla, Clove, Amyris, Orange, Ylang Ylang, Eucalyptus, Cedar and Rose Geranium; 10 lipid-rich plant oils, including Hazelnut, Kukui Nut, Rose Hip, Borage, Olive, Green Tea, Cherry Pit, Sweet Almond, Jojoba, and Evening Primrose; and is fortified with 4 Vitamins, A, B5, C and E. The 28 ingredients create a protective barrier for lips.

Three powerful actives:

  • Saliporine 8, an extract derived from a hardy succulent, was shown to reinforce the natural moisturizing factor of the skin. Moisture levels in the skin increase by 6000% after applying it twice a day for 28 days.
  • Volulip™, a blend of a plant extract and the natural peptide Pal-KMO2K, helps remedy internal and external lip texture. In clinical testing, Volulip™ improved lip shape, softness, volume, and hydration for 69% of volunteers.
  • K3 Viamerine which in clinical testing has been shown to hydrate all three epidermal layers and reduce the depth and appearance of wrinkles.

The packaging is just as impressive. A 24kt gold-plated, anti-bacterial palladium tip dispenses product and creates a cooling effect on the lips. I still can’t figure out how it feels so darn cool when it’s stored in a very warm place. You press down on the  pump to dispense the product from the center of the luxurious gold plated tip.

The product has a bit of an herbal scent that may take some getting used to. You may want to avoid applying it right before eating or drinking. I enjoy the scent but it doesn’t really mesh well when you are trying to enjoy the flavour or something else. The texture has a bit of thickness too it whichI love because it means it stays on the lips really well. I hate runny lip products that disappear the instant you put them on. It has a little bit of stickiness but not the unpleasant in the your hair sticks to it way, but rather the adhere well to your lips way.

My holy grail lip balm for years has been Lansinoh HPA Lanolin for Nursing Mothers. It has kept my lips healthy for years. But this now takes top spot in my book. It is keeping my lips just as healthy but with the added bonus of so many skincare benefits that I am reaping the rewards of already. LOVE!

It give a light hint of pink to the lips with a glossy sheen. It is very lightweight and a joy to apply. At first I thought with such a subtle hint of colour what was the point but turns out I must love it because I have put quite the dent in it already. I love seeing the neon, translucent shade in the tube and it is so easy to apply and feels great on the lips. I use it all day in place of my regular lip balm and it leaves my lips feeling nicely hydrated with a hint of colour that brings a little life to my face when I’m slubbing around the house.
