Springtime Daydreams with Demeter Fragrance Library Pick Me Up Cologne Sprays in Jasmine and Peony ~ Review

Have you tried any scents from the Demeter Fragrance Library? I have been perusing the website and I am completely flabbergasted! They have cologne sprays for every scent imaginable under the sun. From Jelly Belly jelly beans to Laundramat, Margaritas to Dirt. Play Doh and Snow. And of course every kind of floral you can imagine. I can’t believe what I am seeing! I have certainly heard of Demeter but I had never really explored nor looked into the line. It is far more impressive than I ever imagined. If you have a favourite scent or memory, even if you may think it obscure, I urge you to check out their website and see if they may have just what you are looking for.

My introduction to Demeter comes in the form of two floral scents. I love very green, unencumbered florals. Jasmine and Peony are both gorgeous florals that have had me thinking happy spring thoughts on these dreary, cold, and wet winter days.

Jasmine Jazzed…Captivating and seductive, we’ve taken our original scent and made it even better. Demeter’s Jasmine unveils all its natural beauty and releases its soft, heady scent, seducing you…forever. One of the flowers most valued by perfumers, and grown in Grasse, France, its mood-inducing scent is one of the most distinct of all natural odors. The delicate freshness of Jasmine will capture memories of flowers picked along a riverbank or a beautiful spring night. An exotic, sweet, warm, floral bouquet.

Peony…We think this is one of the most beautifully fragrant of flowers. We wait for June with nostrils poised all the rainy Spring. A full bodied floral that announces springtime whenever and wherever it is worn.

The 1 oz Cologne Sprays are $20 and are available on the Demeter Fragrance website or you can use their store locator. Available at select Loblaws banner stores including The Real Canadian Superstore.

Coach Love Eau de Parfum Fragrance Review

I have been testing out a lab sample of a lovely new fragrance from Coach called Love. It is indeed as romantic a scent as it’s name implies.

Coach captures the richest, deepest and most visceral emotion in the celebrated new fragrance Coach Love, a contemporary, romantic and sensual woody floral. It’s modern love in a bottle. The scent is unique and signature in its artful combination of a variety of classic ingredients with a distinctly textural approach to create a modern, chic and urban scent.

It’s the most romantic fragrance Coach has created. It has presence, but it doesn’t shout. And while the scent is very streamlined in its construction, it’s actually quite complex in the number of ingredients used. That’s part of what makes it so compelling. A feminine floral with warm, sensual woody undertones, Coach Love speaks to the heart with distinctly modern sophistication.

Notes:

Top: Mandarin, Dewberry, Green Violet, Freesia - Much like the excitement of a new romance, the fragrance begins with a sparkling vibrancy. The juxtaposition of bright, sparkling mandarin and dewberry with violet and lush freesia, creates a lively yet elegant first impression.

Heart: Magnolia, Jasmine, Gardenia -The heart of Coach Love is a pretty and playful yet richly modern bouquet of luxurious textured florals. It intertwines notes of magnolia, jasmine and gardenia.

Background: Sandalwood, Patchouli, Vanilla, Caramel, Musk - The seductive finish blends smooth, warm notes of sandalwood, patchouli, vanilla, caramel and musk, expressing the sensuality of Coach Love.

I am a huge violet and jasmine fan. I love the floral composition of this scent with the subtle warmth of vanilla and patchouli. It is feminine and soft. I do find that this doesn’t offer much in the way of longevity or projection. I apply several times through the day to maintain the scent and it is something for you and those close to you to enjoy rather than the person across the room.

The Coach in Love fragrance is available in:

What Better Way to Celebrate Valentine’s Day Than With His and Her’s Scents? ~ Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb and Spicebomb Review

What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than with his and her’s scents courtesy of Viktor & Rolf?

FLOWERBOMB_EDT

Flowerbomb is a millefleurs around the freesia, Centifolia rose, osmanthus and Sambac jasmine, supported by a background of patchouli.
With Flowerbomb (50ml $125/ 90ml $185) I get a lot of sweetness and warmth from the patchouli, amber, and tangerine notes. I am usually more a fan of more green florals but Flowerbomb has just the right amount of cuddliness for me. It is a welcome departure from my usual scents and a definite crowd pleaser. There is a reason Flowerbomb is so popular. It’s intoxicating. If you haven’t tried Flowerbomb yet I recommend you do. It is not the blast of floral you may be expecting given the name. I find Flowerbomb wears quite close to my skin and I find my skin eats it quite quickly as opposed to the longer wear I hear most experience. I quite enjoy spritzing it on through the day though so I don’t mind.

Spicebomb is born of the incendiary encounter between two accords with virtually opposing tones: the first is blending a heart of incandescent spices – chilli and saffron – with the all-masculine roundness of leather and tobacco, along with the distinguished brute strength of vetiver. The second is explosive, fusing fresh zesty notes of bergamot and grapefruit, Spicebomb is a burst of spices tamed by an enveloping freshness, a controlled surge of power.

Spicebomb (50ml $75/ 90ml $99) was a surprise for me. I attacked my husband with it and then proceeded to chase him around experiencing the scent as it evolved. I kept thinking it reminded me of something but I couldn’t quite nail it down. I was enjoying the scent so much that I decided to spray some on myself. I’m one that enjoys a scent for what it is and I don’t feel the need to be boxed in by whether a scent is marketed to men or woman. Tobacco is a note I struggle with as I often find it too overwhelmingly sweet and cloying. Spicebomb had such a lovely balance of tobacco and leather that I was actually enjoying tobacco. The spice is not as strong as you would expect given this scent’s name. I got warm cinnamon and pink pepper on my skin. I found this scent to be very unisex for the first several hours. Later that night however I woke to my daughter calling my name and got a blast of full on manliness. On my skin, my sheets, everything smelled very masculine. The warmth of my sleeping skin, with the help of the electric blanket, took this out of my unisex comfort zone. I am interested in playing more with Spicebomb to see if I can recapture the pleasant opening for a longer period of time. Spicebomb has incredible longevity and good sillage.
