NARS Contour Blush in Paloma |Photos, Swatches, Review

NARS Paloma 1

NARS Cosmetics has released a new Contour Blush ($46 CAD) duo. There are three shades available with each including a lighter shade to illuminate the high points of the face and a deeper shade to enhance definition. I have the shade Paloma to share with you. The formula is a matte powder with a very lightweight, smooth, soft texture. It offers a natural skin like results without chalkiness.

NARS Paloma 2

I’m not sure if the lighter duo Olympia would work better for me but the lighter shade in Paloma is pretty much the same, if not a touch darker, than my skintone so with the lack of shimmer I don’t get any highlighting effect from it. The darker shade works beautifully for contouring though or even as a bronzer. These duos are even perfect for a natural, everyday eye look.

NARS Paloma 5

Here I am wearing Paloma subtly to contour my cheekbones, jawline, a little around the forehead and temples, as well as a light touch down the sides of the nose. I have applied the the lighter shade as well to highlight the high points of my face but you can’t really see it.

NARS Paloma 4

The three available shade duos are:

OLYMPIA Ivory/Rose
PALOMA Pink beige/Deep rose
GIENAH Honey/Amber

I love that NARS has released these as more brands need to make highlighting and contouring more accessible, convenient, and achievable as NARS has done with these Contour Blushes. I think all 3 may be a must for my pro kit. ;-)

Available April 1 at select NARS retailers (including Sephora, Hudson’s Bay, Holt Renfrew and Murale) and

AERIN Spring 2014 Essentials Collection Kaleidolight Palette | Photos, Swatches, Review

AERIN Kaleidolight Palette 1

The AERIN cosmetics line is a very curated line that is all about getting the most versatility and performance out of a select amount of products. The new AERIN Essentials Collection brings us a carefully edited selection of AERIN products that are sure to become essentials for any woman who tries them. One of the new pieces is the AERIN Kaleidolight Palette ($78 CAD/$70 US).

AERIN Kaleidolight Palette 2

The palette is housed in a sleek gold compact. I love AERIN’s no nonsense, no wasted space approach to packaging. The palette comes in a beautiful soft pink suede drawstring pouch.

AERIN Kaleidolight Palette 3

Inside the mirrored compact are six areas in the palette of varying sizes. Each large enough to be used individually or you can swirl a kabuki brush across the entire palette. The shades include light-enhancing shades of bronze, beige, pink, and lavender to add subtle glow to the complexion or to be used on eyes and cheeks.

AERIN Kaleidolight Palette 4

The shade offering in the Kaleidolight Palette is universally flattering and well thought out. The only think I could nitpick about would be I would trade one of the similar beige shades in for a lighter shade with more shimmer for a more intense highlight. All of the shades offer the subtlest of glow without visible shimmer. The large bottom right bronze shade offers the tiniest bit more delicate shimmer. The powders are soft and smooth without being powdery. This palette really gives the skin the loveliest subtle glow to highlight and enhance your complexion as well as contour. It will work on a wide array of skin tones but I think it will be especially flattering on those with light-medium to medium complexions. It’s hard to describe but there is just something about the quality of the formula of powder that is so pretty on the skin.

AERIN Kaleidolight Palette 5

The new AERIN Essentials Collection is available now at Holt Renfrew Toronto Bloor Street, Yorkdale, Calgary, and Vancouver as well as at in Canada. It is available in the US at Neiman Marcus and Saks.
