Elizabeth Arden Summer Look Collection Featuring One of My Favorite New Products | Looks, Photos, Products Swatches

The Elizabeth Arden Summer 2014 Summer Escape Collection has some really fun nautical themed packaging. As soon as I saw the boxes I knew this was going to be a fun collection. Open up the boxes and all the products aside from the mascara have their own touch of this nautical look and are a mix of sandy neutrals and vivid maritime hues.

Rebecca Restrepo, Elizabeth Arder Global Makeup Artist, has created two looks for the Summer Escape Collection and I thought it would be fun to recreate them.

Wearing Anchors Away in my crease is too shimmery for my hooded lids but the shade is beautiful. To make this look work better for me I would need to incorporate a matte shade in my crease. I am absolutely loving the vibrant effect of the blue mascara and the coral lip gloss pencil is TO DIE FOR!

Pink Sky:

Elizabeth Arden Summer Escape Look5

The Pink Sky Look omits Anchors Away in the crease but since I did the Summer Escape Look first, and I was feeling lazy, I left the eye look the same. Once again the Beautiful Color Gloss Stick is incredible. I am going to put this in bold so it doesn’t get missed in this large post: You need to go check out these Elizabeth Arden limited edition Beautiful Color Gloss Sticks in Coral Reef and Pink Sky. They are must haves. They over the colour coverage of a lipstick with the intense shine of a gloss. These pics do not do the gloss of these justice. And the best part, the part that really blew me away, the colour AND shine of these gloss sticks last for hours. I mean two hours later my lips looked exactly the same. Even as they wear off a bit as hours go on the shine remains. I am madly in love with these and wish there were more than two shades!

Elizabeth Arden Summer Escape Color Collection 2014 will be available at Shoppers Drug Mart, Hudson`s Bay, Sears, and London Drugs for a limited time beginning March 2014.

One of My Favourite New Looks Featuring the Lancôme Lavender Grace Color Design Eye Palette

Just because something needs a little work doesn’t mean you should love it any less. This should be our motto for a lot of things, and while I admit I may need to work on adhering to this in some other areas of my life, when it comes to makeup I am a firm believer.

Lancome Lavender Grace3

Take for example one of my favourite eye palettes at the moment. The Lancôme Color Design Eye Brightening All-In-One 5 Shadow & Liner Palette in Lavender Grace ($55 CAD/$50 US). If you want this palette to look truly amazing then you need to use an eyeshadow primer. So what. I don’t really see that as a fault. You will never hear me rant and rave about something saying it totally sucks because it fades, creases, or looks lacklustre with no primer. As long is it performs well with a primer then I see the product as being worthwhile. I see eye primers as a daily necessity. I have a huge assortment that I use depending on the look I’m doing and I even regularly layer a cream base over a sheer primer like Too Faced Shadow Insurance. ALL eyeshadows look and perform far better with a good primer. So, in my opinion, why the heck shouldn’t it be part of my daily makeup routine? I shudder at the thought of the number of years my makeup looked far less stellar than it could have before I started using them. Well, lets get back to the look. I’ve gone off the rails with my preaching about the necessity of primers.

So lets get back to the amazing Lancôme Lavender Grace Palette. I am SO IN LOVE with the look this palette creates. It is beyond stunning and perfect to coordinate with the colour of the year, Radiant Orchid. In order to achieve this look I need to use an eye primer all over my lid and I also use a sticky glitter base (Too Faced Glitter Glue) with the highlighter shade to really get the full effect from it. Without primers the lavender lid shade is much sheerer/softer and the highlighter shade is just very sheer glitter with a lot of fallout. With primers the entire palette improves immensely. Let’s take a look at some swatches:

Without primer:

If I had of swatched this in store I probably would have been. Meh, way too disappointing colour payoff, and passed. Luckily I was sent this for consideration from Lancome and had the pleasure of fully testing it. I think from now on I may take primer with me for swatching in store! If I hadn’t of given this palette a chance I would have been missing out on this fabulousness.

The palette design is very slim and sleek.

The plastic protector denotes the intended uses for the shades. There is also a booklet included with the palette that gives a suggestion for a day and night look with full step by step instructions. I have been wearing the night look because I’m a go big or go home kinda gal.

Lancome Lavender Grace2

It is such a gorgeous collection of shades. The soft pink base shade is a satin matte and works great as a base and builds up nicely under the brow bone to amplify the sheen a little bit. The lavender lid shade is bright and beautiful. It is the only shade that does still fade a bit throughout the day even with a primer but not enough to make me stop loving it. The charcoal shade I feared would be too dark in the crease on my fair skin but it blends out beautifully. The highlighter shade requires a base or even better a sticky base otherwise it falls out like crazy. With a good sticky base it looks absolutely incredible on the inner corner and patted on the lid. The liner shade (which is used in the outer third and blended into the crease as well in this night look) is the perfect compliment.

Lancome Lavender Grace4

Here is the look in full. I perfected my skin with Rouge Bunny Rouge Time Defying Foundation in Quinoa Cream and set with the Shu Uemura Spring 2014 Dual Fit Compact Jewel Complexion Pressed Powder. On cheeks in the new Clinique Cheek Pop in Peach Pop and Lips are Rouge Bunny Rouge Long Lasting Lip Liner in Roald with Dior Addict Gloss in Enchanted Pink. On the eyes I also used Lise Watier Dramatique Intense Eyeliner in Prune and the new Spring 2014 YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils Mascara in Captivating Purple

Looking Glass Spring 2014 Beauty Trends | Colour Field Look Recreation

Well be prepared to giggle… Covergirl, Pantene Pro-V, and Olay have a YouTube channel called Looking Glass. You can find amazing hair and makeup tips and tutorials there. In the March 2014 edition of Fashion Magazine they have a Spring Beauty insert featuring 6 Spring 2014 hair and makeup looks created by Covergirl Makeup Pro Amélie Ducharme and Pantene Pro-V Consulting Stylist Justin German representing the trends that stood out for them at the Spring 2014 New York, Paris, London, and Milan fashion shows. Beauty United members like myself were tasked with choosing a look we would like to recreate from the insider’s guide and using a Walmart gift card provided to us to pick up the required Covergirl, Pantene Pro-V, and Olay products needed to create the look. I, of course, had to choose the wildest, funnest look because that is how I roll. Go big or go home right? Why not make it fun! I chose the Colour Field look. And yes, I look ridiculous. Beautiful 20 year old model who can sport any look I am not. Enjoy!

Hair

  • This look starts with healthy looking, shiny hair. After washing and conditioning your hair with Pantene Pro-V Advanced+ Keratin Repair Shampoo and Conditioner, apply a dollop of volumizing mousse to your roots and lightly mist Pantene Pro-V Advanced+ Keratin Repair Keragloss Oil Mist all over.
  • Blow dry with your fingers, pulling your hair away from your face to enhance volume
  • Using a curling irn, curl the lower half of your hair, two-inch sections at a time. (I skipped this and just used my natural curl). Leave the roots straight and then soften the waves with a brush.
  • Spritz the oil mist on the front, top layers to give your hair a glossy look.

I must say this was pretty fun to recreate. The Tropical Fusion palette happens to be amazing. I am glad I opted for this look or I probably would have never tried it. You can find information on this, as well as the 5 other (far more wearable) Spring 2014 Trend Looks in the March 2014 edition of Fashion Magazine and on the Looking Glass YouTube channel.
