As part of Yves Saint Laurent‘s Summer Look 2013 collection they released three new, and permanent, Terre Saharienne Matte Bronzers ($60 CAD/$50 US). These bronzers are beautifully packaged and incredibly fine milled and smooth. If you are looking for a bronze glow that is matte and blends imperceptibly into your skin for a natural warmth without shimmer or chalkiness then you will be enamoured with these new additions to the YSL lineup.

There are three shades available:

  • No 10 Terre Amber (light)
  • No 20 Terre Ochre (medium)
  • No 30 Terre Tan (dark)

I have the lightest shade Terre Amber to introduce you to today. It offers a sheer veil of colour with the most gorgeous natural finish. It blends beautifully and is perfect for those with fair skin as it melts seamlessly into the skin. It is not sheer in the sense that it doesn’t offer enough colour but rather that it is so finely milled it looks like skin with no visible powder finish or shimmer. The shade is warm with a slight peachy/amber tone. It can still come across as a bit too orange on those with very cool skintones but the gorgeous formula makes it far more suitable than most bronzers. You can see it in use in my YSL Summer Look Post.

Trying to Satisfy My Tropical Urges Look

Here’s a quick post on a look I did a couple weekends ago. I have been lemming the new Dior Summer 2013 Bird of Paradise collection badly so I thought I would try to curb my tropical cravings with some products in my stash. I used a few shades from the Dior Garden Pastels palette from last year along with Rouge Bunny Rouge Mysterious Tinamou eyeshadow and my Annabelle Smoothliner in Meteorite. I can’t recall what I used for blush but it doesn’t matter anyways because all you can see is my flushed cheeks! I may have already partaken in some Saturday afternoon beverages at the time these photos were taken. Yay rosacea! On the lips I am wearing one of my all time favourite lip formulas, YSL Glossy Stain, in 27 Peche Cerra-Colla.

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Golden Lustre 114 Rose de Saba for Summer 2013 ~ Photos, Swatches, Review

IMG_1835

The Yves Saint Laurent Summer 2013 Collection brings us two new permanent shades of their Rouge Pur Couture Golden Lustre Lipstick ($39 CAD/$34 US) formula. 115 Brun Sultan and 114 Rose de Saba which I have to share with you today. The YSL Rouge Pur Couture formula is one of my favourites. It offers great pigment and coverage with a lightweight feel and little slip. I love that it has a more dry feel yet is not drying on the lips. If a lipstick is too creamy, or has to much slip, I always feel self conscious about it ending up travelling all over the place. Plus I find they don’t last as long. The Rouge Pur Couture Golden Lustre formula has the added bonus of the most glorious super fine golden shimmer.

The Golden Lustre version has the same stunning square gold packaging with the red YSL logo as the standard Rouge Pur Couture lipsticks but with the addition of a pretty shimmering ivory band around the base in place of the standard black. I do find this packaging can scratch easily so I try to keep in snug in a pocket in my purse rather than rattling around in the abyss of my handbag.

Rose de Saba is a lovely mauve rose. I am in love with the contrast and complexity the pairing of a golden shimmer with the cool, almost lavender toned lipstick creates. The glow of gold when the light hits your lips is just beautiful and offers a nice plumping effect.
