Shu Uemura Spring 201401

Shu Uemura Spring 2014 Bijoux Collection brings us four potted eyeshadows with the most delightful texture and finish. The Silk Cushion Eyeshadows ($30 CAD/$22 US) have a really fun marshmallow like cushiony feel. The shadows are incredibly light yet offer excellent pigment for such delicate shades.

  • Morganite Pink
  • Amethyst Purple
  • Peridot Green
  • Amber Brown

The shadows have the most stunning luminous finish thanks to the silvery white Pearly Carat marbled into each shade . They are breathtaking. Truly beautiful. Unfortunately, while these shadows are touted as being long lasting they crease and fade terribly, and quickly, on me. They fair pretty well on areas of the eye where there is no movement but on the mobile lid and crease they crease and disappear. I have tried over Too Faced Shadow Insurance primer with the same result. Over a cream primer, I tried Painterly Paint Pot by MAC, they lasted a little longer but still faded and creased. I am going to continue experimenting with bases for these shadows because, quite simply, I am UNWILLING to give up on them. They are just far too beautiful to toss aside. I am determined to find a way to make them work and will update you on my progress.

Shu Uemura Spring 201407

The Spring 2014 Bijoux Collection for shu uemura brings us two soft and pretty pastel nail laquers with one of my favourite kinds of shimmer. Pearly hidden shimmer may be a subtle effect but it is one I love and am always attracted to.

Shu Uemura Spring 201408

The soft shades of Green Pearl and Lavender Pearl or perfect colours for spring. There is no better way to describe these than pretty.

The formula applies a little thinly so you will need at least two coats, possibly three to get a nice even coverage. The shimmer is actually more apparent on the nails than similar polishes I’ve tried in the past. While the formula is not one of the best I’ve used these spring perfect luminous shades have won me over.

The spring nail colours ($25 CAD/$18 US) are limited edition and became available as of January 2014 at Holt Renfrew, select Sephora and Hudson’s Bay locations and at www.shuuemura.ca.

The packaging is so fun. I always love the packaging that shu uemura comes out with with their seasonal releases. It just adds to the excitement and the experience.

The items I have to share with you from the collection begin with four of the five shades of Lip & Cheek Fun-tasy ($25 US). These are lip and cheek tints that have an amazing light silky matte texture. They blend so nicely and work even over your powdered and set foundation which can certainly not be said for many cream blushes. On the lips they feel creamy and comfortable with a soft matte finish that doesn’t remarkable doesn’t look at all dry. They come in cute little twist cap squeeze tubes. I am loving these.

The shades are stunning. They are matte but seem to have a lovely glow to them on the skin. The shades I have swatched for you are:

  • Dream Pink
  • Fuchsia Fun-tasy
  • Magical Red
  • Heroin Rose

The collection also includes a Heart and Flower by Takashi Murakami S Curler ($24 US) eyelash curler that has an adorable charm. You can see my review of the S Curler here.
