Foundation Swatches for the Perilously Pale

I am FINALLY posting some foundation swatches for you. I can’t believe that I started Perilously Pale over a year ago and have never done foundation swatches, or reviews for that matter, for you. I apologize. Helping my fellow fair complected beauties navigate the world of beauty was my reason for starting this website and not having done this earlier is unacceptable. Bad blogger!

Here are swatches of the following foundations:

Cover FX Cream Foundation E0
Cover FX Cream Foundation C10
Face Atelier Ultra Foundation 1
Make Up For Ever Face and Body #38
Bobbi Brown Natural Finish in Porcelain
Revlon Colorstay in 110 Ivory
Rouge Bunny Rouge Milk Aquarelle Foundation in Coconut Milk Parfait
Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua in BR10
Le Metier de Beaute Peau Vierge in Shade 1
Le Metier de Beaute Classic Flawless Foundation in Shade 2

For reference my arm is likely about NW10. My face is between NW10-15. I’m starting to discover that going closer to a NW15 blends in better with my freckles. If I match my skin my foundation can look too artificial over my freckles but if I match somewhere in between the colour of my skin and the colour of my freckles it looks more natural.

Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss ~ Papaya, Strawberry, Rosegold, Peony, Crystal Lilac ~ Swatches, Pics, Review

As much as I would like to fill my pro kit with Chanel, Armani, and YSL lip glosses that is obviously not practical or feasible. Because of this I’ve had the pleasure of exploring more drugstore options. Even though these are far more accessible to me than high end brands I still ended up doing my shopping online. I’m crazy I know! I swear if I try to go shopping in person I am far too critical and end up coming home with nothing. I purchased these online at Well.ca. They are are great online Canadian drugstore with fast and free shipping and considering the price of gas these days it’s a wonderful option to save me driving into town. Plus I’m a hopeless homebody!

A pop of weightless colour with vivid, mirror-like shine. Outshines everything but you! • Micro-crystal formula for 5X the shine of patent leather• Plush applicator shaped to curves of your lips for smooth, even application of colour• ColorBurst’s Elasticolor™ technology for rich colour with a weightless feel• Moisturizers and anti-oxidants such as sweet almond oil and vitamin E conditions and improves lip texture• Available in 15 vibrant, on-trend shades

I am very pleased with my selections. I tried to select a nice range of shades. They contain varying levels of beautiful fine shimmer and pigmentation is quite nice with the exception of Peony which I found a bit sheerer than I was hoping for.

Lip swatches:
Papaya is a juicy coral with very fine micro shimmer.
Strawberry is a shimmering bright strawberry (of course) pink.
Rosegold is shimmering gold brown with hints of rose.

Peony is a sheer light peach pink with shimmer. Sorry this is out of focus but it closest in lighting to the other lip swatches.

Crystal Lilac is a gorgeous light mauve pink with iridescent lilac shimmer.

Since the packaging is so reminiscent of Chanel Glossimers I found myself thinking of some similar shades and thought I’d swatch them for you. While the packaging is similar the wands are not. The Revlon Colorburst wand is more of a flat applicator like the Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss. The finish is very similar to Glossimers but with a lighter feel and hence shorter lasting time.
Chanel swatches are on the left and comparing Revlon gloss swatch on the right.

Overall I am very happy with the Revlon Colorburst lip glosses. I can see myself picking up more shades for both my kit as well as personal use.
