NARS Releases 16 Piece Artistry Brush Collection | Photos, Swatches, Review

NARS Artistry Brushes Stylized Group Shot

NARS Cosmetics recently expanded on it’s makeup artistry heritage with a 16 piece Artistry Brush Collection. This comprehensive collection features an exquisite design conceived by Founder and Creative Director François Nars and Fabien Baron, of New York design firm Baron & Baron.

“You cannot achieve good makeup without good tools.” – François Nars

I really love the look and feel of these brushes. Each brush is designed with the finest quality hairs and delicately weighted to provide the necessary balance for a professional and precise makeup application. The brush and packaging feature the iconic matte black finish with sharp debossed logo and signature pop of red. The red accent gives these such a fantastic look.

NARS Artistry Brushes1

The brushes are divided into three categories.

FACE CATEGORY to Refine. Blend. Conceal.

Powder Brush #10 ($58 CAD) Blends, buffs, and diffuses loose powder for a lustrous finish. Double domed with layers of full, soft hair to pick up and deposit powder evenly.

Bronzing Powder Brush #11 ($58 CAD) An artist essential for controlled application. The dense concentration of soft, natural hair holds and applies product for an even, all-over glow.

Cream Blending Brush #12 ($32 CAD) A versatile, multi-use brush for face and eyes. Designed for gentle application of concealer around the eyes and effortless blending of cream textures.

Precision Blending Brush #13 ($30 CAD) For precision application of concealer. Ideal for focused use on spots, pigmented areas, or around the eyes and nose.

CHEEK CATEGORY to Sculpt. Contour. Highlight.

NARS Artistry Brushes2

NARS Blush Brush #20

Blush Brush #20 ($47 CAD) Professional domed shape deposits blush pigments perfectly. Diffuses as it blends for smooth, effortless application. I adore this brush. It of course makes a fantastic blush brush but my favourite way to use it has been for applying bronzer.

NARS Artistry Brushes3

NARS Contour Brush #21

Contour Brush #21 ($47 CAD) Expertly angled for sculpting and highlighting the cheekbones. An artist essential to define and blend with controlled application. This brush has the perfect amount of firmness to precisely sculpt the face while maintaining the softness to blend and diffuse the application for a very natural look.

EYE CATEGORY Line. Define. Blend.

Eye Shadow Brush #40 ($36 CAD) Deposits the perfect amount of pigment for a masterful sweep of all-over shadow.

Diffusing Brush #41 ($37 CAD) A must-have for blending and creating the smoky eye. Lush bristles softly apply shadow for a light veil of color.

Blending Eye Shadow Brush #42 ($37 CAD) Ideal tool for applying high-shimmer shadows and effortless blending for a soft-focus effect due to softer, longer hair design.

Wide Contour Eye Shadow Brush #43 ($37 CAD) The go-to artist essential that does it all: tap, blend, or sweep shadow with ease. Angled shape allows for all-over or precise application.

NARS Precision Contour Brush #44

Precision Contour Brush #44 ($32 CAD) The firm, flexible hair design of this brush is ideal for applying concentrated color in the eye crease. This brush is amazing. The compact size and dense bristles make it amazing for a more precise and concentrated crease colour application. My only complaint is that I find my brush to be a touch on the scratchy side but the exquisite design means it is still one of my favourite brushes at the moment.

Smudge Brush #45 ($32 CAD) The smoky eye artist essential. Expertly deposits colour along the lash line and diffuses and softens eyeliner.

Push Eyeliner #46 ($32 CAD) Transforms any cream or powder eye shadow into an eyeliner for a smooth, fine line at the base of the lashes. Use wet to apply powders for stronger colour impact.

Angled Eyeliner Brush #47 ($32 CAD) Designed for impeccable glide when applying liquid and cream textures along the lash line. Perfect for use with NARS Eye Paint to create a variety of effects, from natural to dramatic.

Brow Defining Brush #48 ($30 CAD) Define, shape and fill in sparse brows. Firm bristles provide control and deposit powder for a hair-like effect.

LIP CATEGORY

NARS Artistry Brushes 1

NARS Precision Lip Brush #30

Precision Lip Brush #30 ($30 CAD) Designed with a wide, flat surface to evenly apply lipstick with precision. This is probably the most precise lip brush I have ever used. I’m loving this retractable lip brush. It may not give a super quick application due to it’s small size but if you are working with deep or bright colours you will appreciate the precision.

Available at select NARS retailers (including Sephora, Hudson’s Bay, Holt Renfrew and Murale) and www.narscosmetics.ca

Boost Your Skin’s Glow with Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster

Clarins Glow Booster 1

The new Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster ($30 CAD/$30 US) has got to be one of the most genius products I’ve seen in a while. It is just so perfect! It is a made-to-measure self tan product.

Clarins Glow Booster 2

The cute 15ml vial/bottle holds the self-tanning liquid that you can add to your favourite moisturizer. Simply press the bottom of the vial to dispense 2-3 drops which is all you need to build a natural and beautiful colour that gives your complexion that added radiance and glow. No gross self tanner smell and no worrying about finding a formula that works with your skin and doesn’t break you out or cause sensitivity. You don’t have to add another topical product to your routine. You simply mix the drops of Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster with the product you are already using. One bottle will last you about 3 months.

Clarins Glow Booster 3

Very precise quantities of natural DHA and erythrulose were studied by Clarins Research, resulting in a formula that promotes a very natural-looking tanned colour. It gives fair complexions a pretty sun-kissed glow and warms darker complexions in just a few hours. You can also adjust the intensity of the tan by reapplying every day, until the desired colour is obtained. When the product is no longer applied, the tan gradually fades.

Shown with the Clarins HydraQuench Cream for Normal to Dry Skin. I perfect combo transitioning from dry winter ravaged skin into spring.

Clarins Glow Booster 4

I am loving the incredibly natural results this product offers and the way I can customize it’s use to suit me perfectly. I like my fair skin so I like that I can use it very moderately to give me a little bit of healthy colour and balance out my skin with my freckles while looking completely natural.

Makeup Wars | My Favourite Spring/Summer Blushes Featuring YSL Babydoll Kiss & Blush, shu uemura Tint in Gelato Reviews & More

When spring comes I tend to turn to sheerer foundations and tinted moisturizers with natural dewy finishes. This brings with it the transition to cream blushes and cheek stains. Products that look more natural in the harsh (and so desperately yearned for) rays of the sun and more resistant to hotter, more humid, weather. Bring it on!

Makeup Wars Spring Blush1

Here are some new and old favourites I will be turning to this spring and summer.

The new Yves Saint Laurent Babydoll Kiss & Blush ($45 CAD/$40 US) has a light airy mousse texture that blends effortlessly into the cheeks. The finish is a soft satin matte that gives cheeks a natural veil of colour. On lips soft satin matte finish on the lips is comfortable and light without feeling dry and there is no stickiness. I like them best applied lightly for a natural hint of colour. I have the shades No 5 Rouge Effrontee and No 7 Corail Affranchi. A fun thing about these new YSL Baby Doll Kiss & Blush is the ability to mix and combine any of the 12 available shades for a for a play on colour.
