Full On Bombshell Smokey Makeup Look for a Rare Night Out

Last weekend we went out for my BFF’s birthday so I took the opportunity to go all out with my makeup. It’s not often my husband and I get to go out anymore and even though it was just out to dinner and back to her place for drinks after I decided to treat it as a full on night on the town! Now I must apologize in advance for the insatiable lemmings I am going to create for the illustrious, and no longer available, Le Metier de Beaute Smoldering Embarkment Kaleidoscope Eye Kit. I really, REALLY wish they would bring this back. It is my all time favourite smokey eye look and I can’t bear the thought of not having a back up. I also want to be able to carry one in my kit to use on clients. Please Le Metier de Beaute….PLEASE…. *bats lashes*.

I also picked up a new Maybelline Color Whisper Lipstick at the Maybelline Fall/Winter 2013 Trends Event last week when I had my lip print read by the Lipstick Psychic that was there. So fun!  The shade is Lust for Blush and it is a phenomenal pale nude mauve pink. It may just be my new favourite lip pairing for an intense smokey eye. I can’t wait to share more from this event with you. There are so many incredible new products from Maybelline. I am especially looking forward to sharing the Fall/Winter 2013 look trends that the beautiful Grace Lee demonstrated for us when it gets closer to fall.

Maybelline Color Tattoo Pure Pigments ~ Black Mystery & Never Fade Jade ~ Photos, Swatches, and Review

The new Maybelline Color Tattoo by Eye Studio Pure Pigments ($8.99 CAD) come in 10 shades ranging from neutrals to bold. They offer double dipped pigment technology for intense colour payoff in loose powder form. I have been testing Black Mystery and Never Fade Jade and I must say I am impressed. Never Fade Jade is a gorgeous green that has almost a glowing quality without being truly shimmery. Black Mystery isn’t the most pigmented black but it has a soft quality that creates a lovely effect and makes if very workable in the crease. It contains a fine blue sparkle that surprised me by not giving me any issues with fallout.

New Lip Loves From Maybelline ~ Color Whisper in Orange Attitude and Color Sensational in Born With It ~ Review

I’ve never been a huge drugstore makeup user but I have come to accept that I am positively in love with Maybelline lip products. Well lipsticks I guess. As I type this I realize I have never tried any of their glosses or stains. Anyways, back to their lipsticks, the Color Whisper and Color Sensational formulas have become some of my favourites. Who would have thought I could love a drugstore brand as much as high end? I have two new shades I have been testing out and they have only confirmed my adoration.

Maybelline Color Whisper lipstick in Orange Attitude is a sheer tangerine that translates to a gorgeous coral on the lips. It has a good amount of pigment and a subtle shimmer. Although sheer it applies very evenly.

I saw the Maybelline Color Sensational lipstick in Born With It on Lola’s Secret Beauty Blog and knew it had to be mine! It looked like such a gorgeous nude pink with subtle shimmer. Indeed it is!

It has the kind of very refined shimmer you can’t often find in drugstore lip products. Now that being said, it is in there in quite a dense concentration. It takes it a little beyond glow but not all the way into frosty territory.
