Karine Vanasse Announced as the New Face of Marcelle

Marcelle is extremely proud to announce Karine Vanasse as the new face for the brand. The actress, well known for her many roles in television series as well as on the big screen, will soon appear in Marcelle skincare and make-up advertising.

Karine Vanasse, the new face of Marcelle

Karine always appeared as naturally beautiful, with no need for superficial extravagance. Marcelle, with its hypo-allergenic and perfume-free products, is a brand that fits perfectly with her personality and that matches her values. “When a public figure associates with a brand, states Karine Vanasse, the general public isn’t fooled. People feel when there is truth behind the collaboration, when the person’s values correspond to those of the brand.” If the actress is happy and proud of her new role as spokesmodel for Marcelle skincare and make-up, it truly is because she shares the brand’s philosophy and core traits. Gentleness, efficacy, authenticity, trustworthiness, focusing on natural beauty, Canadian-made; those are some of the values shared by both the accomplished woman that is Karine Vanasse and the cosmetic brand.

« I enjoy taking care of myself, caring for my skin, confides Vanasse. It’s a moment for myself! I like the idea of making women feel beautiful by accentuating their best features rather than looking to be beautiful. Canadian women feel a really close connection to Marcelle. It has been developed for us, for our skin. The quality of the products is there and I believe that is why Canadian women keep going back to the brand.”

A page in history

Marcelle celebrates its 80th anniversary in 2013. This new association marks yet another landmark in the brand’s beauty credentials. “It is an honor for us that Karine accepted to become the new face of Marcelle and to write with us another page in our brand history”, proudly says François Lafortune, Vice-President of Marketing for Groupe Marcelle. “Karine’s authenticity, her keen mind and her contagious liveliness really speaks to women, who can relate to her”, adds Cathy Samson, Marketing Director for Marcelle.

The association between Marcelle and Karine Vanasse had to be strong, significant, sincere and more profound than a signature on a dotted line between a brand and a beautiful celebrity. Karine, with her personal qualities, her natural beauty and her authenticity embodies the brand image. Marcelle is extremely proud to confirm that Karine Vanasse will be seen as the new spokesmodel in ads for some of the brand’s biggest spring 2013 launches.

image001-17 Marcelle’s new leading lady sums it up in a few words: “Marcelle, for me, is both fashion-forward and simple, at once. It is beauty without compromise.”

Marcelle Waterproof Eyeliner in Midnight Black ~ Swatches, Photos, Review

I am for the most part a gel liner girl. I have never really cared for pencils as I like to get my line as thin as I can in order to take up as little lid space as possible on my hooded eyes. Lately though I have been feeling  rather lazy, and particularly when it comes to tightlining, using a pencil liner is a lot quicker. Hence the search began for the perfect waterproof, smudge proof, black pencil eye liner.  Someone on Twitter was kind enough to recommend the Marcelle Waterproof Eyeliner in Midnight Black. Given my love for Marcelle I knew I had to give it a shot.

Waterproof Eyeliner – Midnight BlackFor impeccably lined eyes anywhere, anytime!Perfectly blendable, its creamy formula allows for a precise and intensely coloured line. The smooth texture of this waterproof eyeliner virtually glides on the skin and stays put all day long, resisting to water, humidity and heat. Long-lasting, it is nonetheless easily removed with any Marcelle eye make-up remover. Available in a matte or pearlized finish.Hypo-allergenic and perfume free.Format: 0.04 OZ / 1.2 gSuggested retail price: $10.50

The shade is uber black but does require a bit of building up. The swatch below is a few passes. This doesn’t bother me though because the end result is exactly what I wanted. A rich black effect that lasts all day without budging.
The swatch pic below was taken after VIGOROUSLY rubbing the swatch with my finger.

I wore it in this look with the Marcelle Coffee Beans Quad and after over 12 hours there was only a moderate amount of fading on the lower waterline. The fading was very uniform and for it to last almost the entire day intact I was VERY impressed. I trust this liner enough to purchase an additional one for my kit and be confident it will not let my clients down.

  • Ultra silky texture
  • Excellent colour pay-off
  • Long-lasting colour
  • Paraben free
  • Modern black double-tier compact includes 2 applicators
  • Offered in quad shades and monochromatic shades

I find that Coffee Beans isn’t totally monochromatic but rather 4 shades that are very similar in colour but for the most part in the same finish. The bottom left shade is a satin finish while the other 3 shades offer pretty much the same amount of very refined shimmer in colours that are slightly different tones in the same colour family. I wish they were indeed 4 unique finishes as was suggested when I was told about the product at the Beauty Unveiling but regardless this is gorgeous palette. There are two sponge tip applicators hidden under the shadows in a flip up compartment. I like as well that the top of the compact is clear so I can see at a glance which palette I’m reaching for.
Coffee Beans is very nicely pigmented and smooth. The warm brown is great for bringing out my blue eyes. I have really been loving the bottom left shade in my crease and have been reaching for it for several looks lately. The shadows blend well and last the day over a primer. It is a very nice formula and I’m looking forward to checking out the other new quads. These appear on Marcelle’s website now but last I checked I did not see them in stores. I imagine if they aren’t there yet they will be any day now. Please let me know if you’ve spotted them!
Here is a look I did using three of the four shades. You can see the varying shades and finish offer a nice contour of the eye.
