They’re All About Plaits at Marc Anthony’s New Braid Bar

Marc Anthony Salons are offering a new braid menu including halo, fishtail, waterfall, and more.

Toronto – December 11, 2012 – “Barkeep, a round of plaits for the house!” We answer that call with the new Marc Anthony Salon Braid Bar.  Marc Anthony introduces a special braid menu offering complex weaves and twists including Halo, Fishtail, Waterfall, French Braid and more – perfect for the holidays and beyond.

Braids have long become a permanent fixture in fashion and beauty. Though the trends come and go, over the past few years we’ve seen a resurgence of them popping up in Hollywood culture, runways and street fashion and the momentum doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. No wonder the endless stream of Marc Anthony clients asking stylists to work their intertwining magic – no longer are braids simply a second day hair remedy.

“The possibility of a braid is endless, really”, says Marc Anthony. “They can make a real statement taking centre stage; they can twist and wind into intricate weaves; they can give your hair just a touch of embellishment; or even play a bit of peek-a-boo plait under a disheveled look”. We see them on starlets, young and mature, classic and avant-garde alike. Jennifer Lawrence, Blake Lively, Lady Gaga and Heidi Klum are just a small sampling of the celebrities rocking the ancient art form.

The Marc Anthony Braid Bar services are offered at both Toronto locations and start from $20. Clients are encouraged to make an appointment. Appointments can be made by contacting Marc Anthony Salons at 38 Avenue Road, 416-413-1521 or 1918 Avenue Road, 416-789-1212.

Marc Anthony Repairing Macadamia Oil Shampoo, Conditioner, and Treatment Review

I  have been testing out the Marc Anthony Repairing Macadamia Oil line of hair care products for the past few weeks. The past few weeks I have also been very hard on my hair with some rather abusive colour processes. You may have noticed I have gone from red to strawberry blonde. Sorry hair! This means it couldn’t have been a better time to test out the repairing and restorative claims of this Macadamia Oil and Bamboo Extract infused trio.

Hair repair from the inside out. For hair that needs some
serious TLC we look to nature’s hidden hair gems – Macadamia Oil and Bamboo.
The Repairing Macadamia Oil™ collection is formulated with Macadamia Oil; an
extra lightweight oil with a similar consistency to natural body oils that
easily penetrates the cuticle for deep hydration. Coupled with Bamboo Extract,
it is a strengthening and restorative duo for damaged, lifeless hair. Bamboo Extract
contains protein which helps retain moisture in the hair shaft and assists in
filling and smoothing the roughened cuticle of damaged hair. A rich source of
Silica, it has incredible strengthening properties for hair. This is truly
luxury hair care.

I did have some reservations when I began testing these products. They are sulfate free. Yay! So that criteria for my hair care had been met. The conditioner and styling oil did, however, contain silicones which is another ingredient I have been trying to avoid. I try to avoid the buildup of silicones on my very fine hair. Even though it does aid with the frizz. I decided to go ahead and test them out anyways and so far so good. I have not noticed any ill effects from the silicones in the products. I have been very stingy in my use of the hair oil though just in case.
Considering the trauma I have imposed on my hair the past few weeks, and the fact I have received compliments on how healthy it has managed to continue looking, I would have to say Marc Anthony is doing something right with these formulas. The products have an intoxicating, exotic scent that reminds me of a tropical beach. My hair has felt soft and in good condition. It has been shinier than the norm for me and frizz has been fairly well controlled. I haven’t noticed either an improvement, nor detriment, to the formation of my curls. Marc Anthony claims these products will transform dry, damaged strands into shinier, smoother, healthier looking hair and my experience thus far has been a testament to that.
If your hair doesn’t have any strong aversion to silicones, and you have dry, damaged hair concerns,  I definitely recommend giving the Restoring Macadamia Oil products from Marc Anthony a try. They are available at Shoppers Drug Mart/Pharmaprix, Walmart, and other retailers with a suggested retail price of $9.99 each.
