Chanel Ombres Perlees de Chanel Gives Kaska Beige a Boost Face of the Day

I thought I’d try punching up my usual Chanel Kaska Beige look by using the Ombres Perlees de Chanel Quint to add some finishing touches. I liked the subtle glow it gave to the look. Apologies for the lackluster hair and somewhat unsuccessful attempt at getting decent pics. I was just going heading to the cottage. ;-)

Face of the Day with the Urban Decay Naked Palette

Here is a Face of the Day from the other week featuring the Urban Decay Naked palette. I ought to do a proper review on it soon, although it has been reviewed umpteen times already on other blogs. I was unsure for a long time about picking this up since I feared it would be too warm for me. It is definitely warm but happily I think it still manages to work. I really should use it more often even if it’s just to use a single shade to complete a look. It is a fantastic value for such a comprehensive palette of neutrals. This is the only Urban Decay palette I own as I’ve never been attracted to any others that have included crazy colours and immense glitter. This palette however is a must. I also wore one of my favourite Glossimers Pink Teaser from the fall 2010 collection. Thankfully it is permanent as it is a wonderfully pigmented and flattering shade.

Illamasqua Powder Blushers in Hussy, Lover and Tremble – Swatches & Review

From Illamasqua’s website:
Illuminate, radiate, make your face come alive with the colour and drama of Illamasqua Powder Blusher. Colour-intense and highly pigmented, use it to shade, brighten, enhance and define the shape of your face. Be bold, be daring, be the centre of attention.

I am so incredibly impressed with Illamasqua blushes and incredibly disappointed with the fact that this brand is completely unavailable in Canada. I had to get these blushes through a US CP. Illamasqua is carried at Sephora in the US but they are not available at the Canadian locations and they are a “Canada Restricted” item on Sephora’s website meaning they cannot even be ordered online. This is one of many situations where I find shopping as a Canadian extremely frustrating. Well onto the beautiful product:

The three shades I have; Hussy, Lover and Tremble are all matte finishes as the majority of their blushes are. They are in no way flat though. They offer INCREDIBLE pigmentation and they apply and blend flawlessly. I really, really adore these blushes. At a time when I thought I wanted to only wear matte products on my face I found these to be a real godsend.  So for any of you out there that want a beautiful finish and pop of colour but sometimes want to avoid glitter and sparkle these blushes are for you. Oh heck! These are for anyone. They are really fabulous products and very reasonably priced. I wish I had the opportunity to explore this brand more. I know they also offer a really fantastic range of foundation shades so it’s nice to know they are one of too few companies offering something that can work for me and other gals at the far ranges of both ends of the shade spectrum.

Hussy is described as a bright candy pink, Tremble as a soft lilac pink, and Lover as a soft apricot. I find these descriptions quite accurate. To me Hussy has a touch of a coral tone to it. Tremble is more a cool-neutral pink and I don’t really detect any Lilac tones. Lover is indeed a soft apricot and not as orange as it comes off in these swatches. It is my favourite of them all by far. It is such a unique, soft and pretty shade.
