Everyone Deserves Clean, Safe Drinking Water! Support the Giorgio Armani Acqua for Life Campaign!

AcquaforLife

March 22nd was World Water Day. I shared with you Biotherm’s Bottle a Day Challenge last week. I hope you joined me! Giorgio Armani takes World Water Day to heart with the Acqua for Life project. Water is an essential condition for sustainable development no matter where you are in this world. Unfortunately, the access to clean and safe supply of water that we are so accustomed to and take so easily for granted is a critical challenge for many countries in this world. The Giorgio Armani Acqua for Life (www.acquaforlifechallenge.org) campaign is targeting two countries that are facing great difficulty in providing access to a supply of clean water; Ghana and Bolivia.

Can you imagine your children missing hours of schooling and risking their lives to travel on long trips to access dirty, and animal-soiled water sources?  The aim of the Acqua for Life project is to develop and infrastructure that supplies safe drinking water within villages, and directly into their schools, to improve the sanitary for schoolchildren and everyone in the community.  4,000 children die worldwide each day from preventable water-related diseases. That is something that just should not be happening!

Their are two ways you can support this amazing and vital campaign:

  • By liking their Facebook page, 50 litres of water are automatically donated to the cause.
  • Purchase one of Giorgio Armani’s specially packaged water themed scents, Acqua di Giò and Acqua di Gioia, and 100L of safe drinking water will be donated.

Lets make 2013 the year of even greater results! 52 million litres of drinking water were collected in 2012, overtaking the 43 million litres reached in 2011, bringing the total to 95 million litres provided to Ghana and Bolivia. In Bolivia, a total of 9 boreholes and 7 rainwater harvesting systems were built in 12 isolated Bolivian villages and the construction of boreholes, hand-dug wells and rainwater harvesting systems is being completed in 12 communities in Ghana. The equipment will provide safe drinking water for about 15 years!

Please help raise awareness for this great cause by sharing the information on Twitter with the hashtag #AcquaforLife2013.

Giorgio Armani Maestro Fusion Makeup Foundation Shade 3 ~ Photos, Swatches, and Review

Giorgio Armani Maestro Fusion Makeup touts itself as the revolutionary complexion perfector. This formula is indeed revolutionary. It is an ultra fine pigment in a dry oil formulation that feels utterly weightless. Application is practically a sensual experience. The luxurious feel of this product gliding over your skin is truly indulgent.

Traditional foundations are usually emulsions with water in oil containing fillers; those fillers can produce a visible masking effect. Maestro was created with five out-of-the box principles, delivering a result never seen before:

  •  a water and powder-free base
  • totally non-comodogenic
  • 5 time-released oils evaporating gradually
  • smart pigment technology
  • an easy, fast, fresh and flawless application with an unforgettable sensory feel

The Fusion make-up technology delivers the thinnest color film that blends perfectly and corrects skin imperfections without buildup.

The Maestro Fusion makeup has a very fluid, runny consistency. Because of this it dispenses with a dropper. Very cool!

I have applied this foundation with both my fingers and various brushes. I think application with my fingers is my favourite because you get to fully experience the silky feel of a dry oil. The formula is a combination of five volatile, semi-volatile, and non-volatile oils. This precious clear mixture evaporates at different rates in a time release action to provide the optimal balance of application slip and non-greasy feel while maintaining a hydrated feel to the skin through the day. This makeup magically gets better looking as the day progresses. I don’t even need to set this foundation. The finish is just so beautifully natural yet luminous. I don’t want to alter it in any way with setting powder.

I thought I would share this information form the Maestro media kit with you as I found it very interesting and it sums up a lot of the issues we experience with traditional foundations and BB Creams/Tinted Moisurizers quite nicely:

Characteristics of a traditional foundation:

– emulsion – 20% water in 80% oil. Foundation allows for a unified spreading of the fluid in order to avoid spots of color.

BUT:

– highly pigmented: 15% pigments. Pigments are contained in powdery phase that can create a mask effect.

– high surface tension: hard to spread, not even on the skin surface.

Composition of a traditional skin perfector (e.g. BB creams):

– 20% oils in 80 % of water. Skin perfector allows a rapid penetration of formula and a fresh feeling.

BUT:

– low rate of pigments: 4%. Barely corrects skin tone.

– skin perfectors are like primers. They are used in order to smooth the skin surface.

Maestro, a new face make-up category: Maestro is not a foundation, and more than a skin perfector, because it concentrates both their benefits:

– waterfree oils: 60% time-release translucent, non greasy oils for a fresh feel, a non-greasy finish and a pure color.

– 11% pigments for skin tone perfection. No powder so no mask effect.

– low surface tension: for the fastest, easiest application.

Extras:

– skin surface perfection due to soft particles selected to provide the thinnest correcting film and an extraordinary sensory feel.

– contains lotus oil, known for its anti-free radical properties.

Maestro

There are 12 shades available. I use shade 3. I believe shade 2 and 3 are fairly close in their depth of colour but shade 2 is a bit more yellow toned than shade 3. The coverage is sheer to medium and the translucent formula very forgiving so you can likely get away with a couple of shades. I had heard lots of people complaining that this foundation wasn’t good for dry skin as it accentuated dry patches. I have actually found this works very well on my dry and eczema ravaged skin. It does emphasize the flakiness a little bit but applying any makeup on dry skin will do this. I have actually found it outperforms most of my foundations over my dry patches. If you have normal to oily skin you are going to positively love this foundation though, I am sure.
