Estée Lauder Vivid Shine Pure Color Nail Lacquer in So Vain ~ Photos, Swatches, and Review

IMG_0393

So Vain is a lovely cafe cream neutral shade with very, very subtle shimmer. The shimmer is pretty much indiscernible to the naked eye on the nail but it gives the polish a little extra glow and dimension. It has a sheer formula that applies beautifully and evenly. I didn’t find any need for more than two coats (shown) but if you detest any hint of visible nail line than you may prefer three. I found Estée Lauder So Vain ($25 CAD) to be a really lovely neutral. It has a subtle warmth but didn’t look out of place against my cool toned skin. It is dark enough to avoid a mannequin hands look although this will of course vary with skintone. It dried quickly and has a nice gloss even without top coat.

Lancome, Estee Lauder, and Aerin Summer 2013 Collection Look ~ A Perfect Team

The new releases from Lancome, Estee Lauder, and Aerin work beautifully together. The neutral sand and brown eyeshadow shades in the Aerin 2013 Summer Style Palette are a great backdrop for the stunning Lancome Azure Artliner. I warmed up and contoured my face with the Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Powder Bronzer in Medium and then used the blush/bronzer from the Aerin 2013 Summer Style Palette on my cheeks. I know this very warm palette isn’t flattering on my fair cool skin, (it looks pretty dirty on me), but at least you can see them in action. I finished off with the new Lancome Rouge In Love lipstick in Crazy Tangerine. It may not be best suited to my colouring either but I still love it!

Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Powder Bronzer in Medium for Summer 2013 ~ Photos, Swatches, and Review

IMG_0380

Estée Lauder always knocks it out of the park with their Summer collections. They always have me dreaming of being a tanned beach babe. Something I am so totally NOT! We can always turn to bronzers thought to bring some sun kissed colour to our look and this year Estée Lauder brings us an extended line of four shades of their Bronze Goddess Powder Bronzer ($40 CAD) housed in an elegant tortoise shell compact. The bronzer contains a subtle shimmer that reflects light with buildable coverage to subtly warm your complexion or provide for dramatic facial contouring.  Sweep it onto your face, shoulders or décolletage to enhance skin with a beautiful, year round glow.

The above photograph represents how this bronzer appears on my skin. Very warm and sun kissed. The photograph below is the best I could do at capturing how it looks in the pan. It actually comes off as fairly neutral in the compact. I think this would be an excellent bronzer for anyone with a light, warm toned complexion and beyond. Even though this is in the shade medium it worked well pigment wise on my fair skin. It wasn’t too intense and the silky powder blends in beautifully. The coolness of my colouring however, did not work well with the warm tones. It brought out the orange undertones. Of course Medium is not meant for my skintone. I am sure the new Light shade would work much better! I am curious to see if it is a cooler toned shade. If you’ve seen it I would love to hear from you.

You can see in the swatch below that the shimmer is very delicate. It gives the skin a healthy radiance in a very discreet way. The shimmer is the most gorgeous copper colour. Such a refreshing alternative to the usual gold shimmer in bronzers. There is no chalkiness to the powder at all. The enclosed brush is a nice size and shape for touchups.
