Foundation Swatches for the Perilously Pale

I am FINALLY posting some foundation swatches for you. I can’t believe that I started Perilously Pale over a year ago and have never done foundation swatches, or reviews for that matter, for you. I apologize. Helping my fellow fair complected beauties navigate the world of beauty was my reason for starting this website and not having done this earlier is unacceptable. Bad blogger!

Here are swatches of the following foundations:

Cover FX Cream Foundation E0
Cover FX Cream Foundation C10
Face Atelier Ultra Foundation 1
Make Up For Ever Face and Body #38
Bobbi Brown Natural Finish in Porcelain
Revlon Colorstay in 110 Ivory
Rouge Bunny Rouge Milk Aquarelle Foundation in Coconut Milk Parfait
Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua in BR10
Le Metier de Beaute Peau Vierge in Shade 1
Le Metier de Beaute Classic Flawless Foundation in Shade 2

For reference my arm is likely about NW10. My face is between NW10-15. I’m starting to discover that going closer to a NW15 blends in better with my freckles. If I match my skin my foundation can look too artificial over my freckles but if I match somewhere in between the colour of my skin and the colour of my freckles it looks more natural.

Grand Opening Today of the New Bobbi Brown Pop-Up Shop in Grand Central Terminal

Get ready New Yorkers. Today is the day Bobbi Brown launches her first pop-up store location at Grand Central Terminal. Bobbi’s own personal manicurist will be there today offering 10 minute manicures to mark the occasion.

Bobbi Brown Cosmetics Launches Pop-Up Shop in Grand Central Terminal
August 20, 2012, New York, NY – Bobbi Brown Cosmetics is proud to announce the launch of the brand’s first-ever pop-up store location.  First stop, New York City’s Grand Central Terminal.
“I am so excited to be opening our first pop-up shop in the US,” says Bobbi Brown, makeup artist and Founder of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, “A broad cross-section of women pass through Grand Central every day, so it is the perfect location to be in the middle of all of the excitement and capture women on-the-go.”
The design of Bobbi Brown “The Pop-Up”—located in the Lexington Passage—is exclusive to the brand’s new pop-up locations around the world.  Uniquely designed, the architecture will be flattened into wallpaper, which will also depict photos of Bobbi in action around the globe and iconic products from the brand.  Incorporating personal touches and elements fromBobbi’s office in SoHo, the shop’s industrial design will mimic Bobbi’s design aesthetic at her Montclair free-standing store featuring heavy metal furniture, Emeco 1001 chairs, stainless steel rolling tables, and the iconic Bobbi signature in neon lights.  The shop will be easy to navigate while keeping with the chic and streamlined interiors of all Bobbi Brown counter locations worldwide.
At 800 sq ft, “The Pop-Up” will house the entire collection of color cosmetics, fragrance and skincare, with a special focus on the new Long-Wear Foundation and Creamy Matte Lipcolor collections.  Five makeup artists will be in store at all times to provide iconic Bobbi Brown high-touch service including 5-minute “instant pretty” touch ups and free makeup lessons. Bobbi’s personal manicurist, Roza Israel, will set up shop for the grand opening, offering 10-minute manicures to consumers and commuters alike on a first come-first serve basis.
Just in time for the holidays, the pop-up shop will be the perfect location to stop in before or after work for makeup application or party touch ups, or to stock up on gifts and stocking stuffers.  To date, the brand plans to keep the shop open until January 2013.
“This pop-up shop will enable us to connect directly with our consumers,” says Maureen Case, President of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, “It will showcase some of the best elements from our global free-standing stores, will bring the best of Bobbi to life, and will have a halo effect on consumers shopping in other locations closer to home.”
Store hours are M-F/ 8AM-8PM; SAT/10AM-7PM; SUN/11AM-6PM.

Bobbi Brown High Shimmer Lip Gloss in Naked Plum – Swatches, Pics, Review

I can’t purchase Bobbi Brown cosmetic online in Canada and the nearest counter is two hours away so I don’t end up owning much of her cosmetics. It really is a shame. I don’t understand why Bobbi Brown is Canada restricted on Neiman Marcus, Sephora, and any other place I have attempted to purchase online. There are several brands that impose this restriction and it makes me crazy. Don’t they understand that some of us are hours from a counter? Sure I could call up Holt Renfrew and order from a counter but I HATE the phone. I will order something online but if it requires me phoning someone it isn’t apt to happen.
So anyways, I saw Naked Plum High Shimmer Lipgloss on Temptalia and for whatever reason I felt I must have it. I ended up having a friend who was sending me some perfume add this to my package. This is my first experience with a Bobbi Brown lipgloss and I’m pretty impressed.

The lip gloss has the standard doe foot applicator which tends to be my favourite.

Naked Plum is really nicely pigmented. I am very happy with that aspect of it. I love glosses that can stand on their own and not be used solely as lipstick toppers. It is a gorgeous plum shade with highly reflective pink shimmer and smaller, more subtle gold shimmer. It has a somewhat thick texture but it isn’t sticky and is very comfortable to wear. It has fairly good wear time for a gloss. If I were to pick one thing to complain about it would be that this gloss is a bit on the sparkly side for me but HEY I’m the one who ordered a lip gloss named HIGH SHIMMER lip gloss. I got what I ordered. ;-)
