This week the Makeup Wars team is sharing with you our favorite oils. Now I must be upfront about the fact that I am no facial oil aficionado. I have very little experience with facial oils but from the several I have tried my all time favourite thus far is the Clarins Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil for Dehydrated Skin ($51 CAD/$50 US). I picked this up as a treat to myself with my Shoppers Optimum Points months ago. I loved it so much that I bought my sister the Clarins Lotus Treatment Oil (more suitable for her skin type) shortly afterwards.
The Clarins Oils are 100% pure plant extracts, have zero preservatives, and are chock full of skin healthy ingredients in a dry oil formula that my skin just drinks up. The Blue Orchid oil contains extracts of Rosewood, Patchouli and Blue Orchid to tone, revitalize and restore radiance to moisture-depleted skin as well as Hazelnut Oil to help prevent moisture loss and the formation of fine lines. I find this a far more pleasant way to richly hydrate my skin and address skin concerns than with heavy, greasy creams.
It has a herbal scent that is intoxicating and adds to the luxurious experience of this product. A little goes a very long way. Just 3-4 drops pressed into my skin with my hands is all I need. The 30ml bottle has been in quite regular rotation on and off for about 9 months now and I still have a lot left. I am anxious to try out the Lotus Oil as well to alternate with the Blue Orchid as the Lotus Oil is formulated for Dry to Very Dry Skin. If you are wondering what oil is best for you the Clarins website has a wonderful online tool for finding the right Facial Treatment Oil for you.
I wish I had a favourite hair oil to share with you as well but I haven’t managed to find one I like that doesn’t contain silicones or have a foul smell. I am really looking forward to the recommendations of the other Makeup Wars members to hopefully find the one I’ve been looking for.
