Maybelline recently added an assortment of 5 metallic shades to their Color Tattoo 24hr Cream Gel Shadow lineup. The shades are:
- Inked in Pink
- Silver Strike
- Gold Rush
- Barely Branded
- Electric Blue
The new Color Tattoo Metal shades aren’t quite as pigmented as the majority of the previously released shades. They do however offer the same amazing longevity at a great price point. I find the two shades I have tested, Barely Branded and Electric Blue, function best as bases for powder eye shadow looks. I found it a little too difficult to build up to an even, opaque pigmentation level. This suits me just fine though as I reach for cream eyeshadows primarily for use as a base anyways. You can see Electric Blue in use as a base in this my Icy Blue and Pink Look.
Barely Branded is a lovely shimmering champagne beige. Electric Blue is a vibrant, shimmering, deep cobalt blue. Almost navy.
If you are wondering how 70 Barely Branded compares to 100 Barely Beige from the Fall 2012 limited edition release I have swatched them side by side below. Barely Beige is a warmer, deeper beige than Barely Branded and is also a bit more pigmented. They are quite close though so if you missed out on Barely Beige you can ease your pain with Barely Branded.

I love both shades! It’s soooo unfair that we never get any of these LE shades here. I think we have 8 in total and that’s about it! Initially I was hoping more would come if they sell well. They seem to sell well to me, but they’re not expanding the line!

I reviewed Barely Beige and Barely Branded too. I think if you have one then you don’t need the other. But they are great as an e/s base or a quick eye look.

I really like Barely Branded. Looks like it’d be a great highlight colour.
For someone who didn’t have a single cream shadow two months ago, is it strange that I now have both Barely Beige and Barely Branded?
B.Branded is too frosted on its own for my taste, but it has been a great base for powder eyeshadows.
I’m glad I haven’t opened B.Beige yet, as B.Branded is drying out on me faster than I thought it would. Have you noticed your Color Tattoos drying out faster/slower than other brands’ cream eyeshadows?
Mine seem fine but mine may not get opened as often as yours?
