The Urban Decay Build Your Own Palette with Breathless Eyeshadow ($22) is a Sephora exclusive customizable four-well palette that includes one neutral shadow. It’s a great deal because the regular price of a single Urban Decay Eyeshadow is $22 so you are getting the palette for free!

The new Urban Decay Eyeshadows are now specially designed to work with this case. You pop them out of their Urban Decay compact and pop them into a Build Your Own Palette. Choose from a massive selection of nudes, vibrant hues, and deep, dark shades to create your own unique combination, then swap out all four whenever you like. The palette also includes one free shadow: Breathless, a medium taupe shimmer that gives the palette its name.

All Urban Decay shadows contain their Pigment Infusion System™, the proprietary blend of ingredients that gives every shade its velvety texture, rich color, serious staying power, and blendabilitly. This exclusive palette features a chic artist tin-inspired case with spin art heart imagery on the front. Open the lid to reveal a generous mirror for on-the-road inspiration.

The palette is very sturdy. The exterior case is magnetic tin with a plastic insert will four wells for the Urban Decay shadows to be popped into. The pans pop in and out really easily. My only complaint is that the packaging of the eyeshadow pans and the palette is quite bulky. I am a big fan of streamlining. The bleeding heart artwork on the palette is really pretty and fun.

The Breathless Eyeshadow that is included is a medium pinky mauve taupe with shimmer. It is has medium pigmentation and a really pretty finish that is just softly sparkling. The shimmer is subtle enough that this shade can still work nicely in your crease.

I can not wait to start filling this baby up with more Urban Decay eyeshadow shades! I have been wanting to explore the new formula more but have been overwhelmed by the daunting task of narrowing down the amazing colour selection to only a few shades. I really love that they have included many favourites from the Naked palettes so that once we’ve hit pan on our most loved shades we can purchase a replacement. What are your favourites shades? What do you recommend I try next?

I have two UD custom palettes, and by far my surprise favorite shade has been X. It looks very peachy / orange in the pan and retains some of that on my eyelid, but layered over a primer and Fyrinnae’s Pixie Epoxy, and it has the loveliest golden sheen to it. It looks -awesome- paired with Mildew.

Shattered and Psychedelic Sister are also very excellent.

  3. I think I like this included shade than the other, matte one. I actually haven’t tried the new UD shadow formula yet, but I definitely plan to soon!!

nice! i wonder, in your opinion how does this color compare to RBR solstice halcyon?

    • Christa says:

Hi Erin. Breathless is much more pink mauve than SH. It also has the fine sparkles in it where as SH is really fine uniform shimmer. (Breathless also is fine uniform shimmer but with the addition of the fine, sparse, sparkle).
