Being “Perilously Pale”, sunscreen is of great importance to me. I must admit I have a bit of an annoying habit of stressing the importance of sunscreen to young people. I had always thought I was fairly diligent about sunscreen in my youth but the truth is I was not. You TRULY need to wear sunscreen every day if you are to be leaving the house. I have significant pigmentation on my driving side. There were a lot of days where I didn’t think sunscreen was necessary in my 20′s because I was just driving to and from the office. I would give anything to go back and time and undo the damage I did by not wearing a sunscreen everyday. I also visited tanning beds prior to my wedding in Jamaica and a subsequent trip to Cuba because I didn’t want to be lily white and look like a flabby fish and burn instantly. I think those trips to the tanning beds, and coordinating tanning at the cottage in the summers prior to those trips, aged me five years. The pigmentation to my chest in particular simply will not dissipate. My number one skincare goal is to rid my skin of the hyper-pigmentation caused by sun damage. Please don’t make the mistakes I did. OK well now that I have finished preaching to you lets get on with the review!

I was sent some mineral based, (non chemical yay), sunscreens from MDSolarSciences. Refinery29 actually just posted an interview with the GORGEOUS Dita Von Teese where she mentions MDSolarSciences Mineral Screen Lotion SPF 40 as her favourite sun protection!

I received the following products which I have been testing. I have included the ingredients for you as well.

All of the formulas are water resistant for up to 80 minutes.

Here are how the products look out of the bottle and rubbed into the skin. You will see that even the tinted version blends in invisibly. To think I was worried!

They all have an incredible silky feel with the tinted version having a bit more of a silicone feel than the other versions. All formulas do include silicones in varying amounts. I was really, really impressed with these sunscreens. None of them felt greasy or heavy. They all applied with a wonderful silky feel and left an invisible, satin matte finish with no stickiness. They just feel good on the skin. Not what you would expect from a sunscreen. I would be confident wearing any of these on my face. They don’t even have any scent. No artificial fragrance or perfumes or even a “sunscreen smell” if you know what I mean. I am truly impressed with these and can’t wait to really put them to the test this summer. These would even make a great last minute stocking stuffer if you have a loved one going on vacation or even just for daily protection for their face. I’m really interested in trying out the kids versions now for my children. Highly recommend.

My fave from this line is the tinted mineral sunscreen. I also use this as my makeup primer.

I love SPF30+ sunscreens, the minimum I must wear before stepping outside.

The Mineral Screen Tinted Gel sounds great, and it’s reassuring to know it blends in well with light skintones.

Yes I was surprised the tint worked so well. I really love them all!

I have the hardest time finding a sunscreen that I would wear on my face due to how greasy and heavy most feel (not to mention that grayish cast), I’ll keep these on my radar! I did major sun damage in my younger years and wish I could undo it as well. C’est la vie.

If only we could go back and do it again. Ahhh the skin I would have…

Christa, have any of these sunscreens made it into your daily routine? I’ve become highly sensitive to chemical sunscreens and many physical sunscreens dry out my skin. I’m getting frustrated with my search. ARGHGGHHGHHh. <– phew. I needed to get that out. Don't mind me. tee hee! (How is it that I can be my "real self" around you, and we've never met?)

  • Christa

LOL you’re silly BooBoo! I alternate right now between the MD Tinted on days I’ll be outside more and the UD Naked Skin BB when I’ll be mostly indoors. Still loving them!
