Makeup Wars ~ My Favourite Mascara ~ Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Mascara Review

My long time, favourite mascara, is Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill. I love the combination of length and volume it gives me without clumps, or flaking. I mean really, I don’t need to say much more than that do I? I get a considerable effect from just one coat, but can layer three coats for serious impact and still not worry about clumps or having to even bother with my lash comb a vast majority of the time. It holds my curl and is easy to remove at the end of day. The only drawback to the mascara is that it tends to dry out fairly quick. This may actually be a good thing though, because then I don’t lose track of time and end up using it far beyond the safe usage period of 3 months. I use many products beyond the “suggested life”, but mascara is one I do not like to take the chance of messing around with. The other drawback of course would be the price, and the fact that Giorgio Armani isn’t very accessible to me, but it has been worth the effort.

Dress the eye with powerful, plush, voluminous lashes. Fine, fluid Microfil technology creates intensely captivating lash texture. Micro-waxes combined with a fineness agent allow for smooth and easy application, revealing weightless volume and length.

I don’t have a full version at the moment as I’m enjoying experimenting with my sample mascaras from the L’Oreal Luxe Advent Calendar, which happened to include a sample sized Armani Eyes to Kill. I wish I did have a full sized version to show you the heavy, and luxurious packaging. At least I have the sample size I am using to show you the configuration on the brush. It is fairly unique. It has a flatter side when laid one way, and a fatter side when laid out the other way. This means is it quite versatile. You can use the narrower side to wiggle into the base of the lashes and then use the wider side of the brush to fan through the ends of your lashes for more length.

I love that even after three coats my lashes remain soft and flexible. Even with playing with them to confirm their softness I still experience no flaking with this product. It stays looking fresh and intact for me for the full day without any smudging under my lashline.

The photos below I did not use a lash comb or spoolie to comb out my lashes. I just applied straight from the tube and left as is. Normally when applying 2+ coats of mascara I would use a lash comb to ensure no clumps but I wanted to let you see how well this mascara performs on it’s own without the aid of any extra tools.

Bare, curled lashes.

Two coats of Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Mascara

Three coats of Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Mascara

I have only ever tried the original formula of the Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill mascara. There are other versions such as Excess, and Stretch, but I have heard very mixed reviews on these and have stuck to what I already know I love so far. Eyes to Kill Mascara retails for $30 in the US and $33 in Canada. It is available at your local Giorgio Armani counter including at Holt Renfrew, Neiman Marcus, and Saks.

I am currently testing out the MAKE UP FOR EVER Smoky Lash mascara. I only just received it and have only had the opportunity to use it once but I have found it quite comparable and I am quite pleased so far. We will have to see, after further testing, if Eyes to Kill gets nudged out of my top spot.

The only Armani I love (and almost chose for this Makeup Wars!) is the Original Eyes to Kill. I’ve tried and reviewed the others and they don’t hold a candle to the original.
Your lashes look amazing with it!

I LOVE this one as well! I heard it smudges on some, but on me it totally stays put and it excels in every department my lashes need (volume, length, curl-holding capacity… the whole lot)! My only tiny issue with this is it isn’t as simple to use on my bottom lashes as Diorshow New Look, so if I could only choose ONE mascara to own it’d have to be New Look. Otherwise this is near darn perfect!

It excels in every department for me as well and I’ve never experienced any smudging. I don’t have oily lids though. I never really put much thought into how mascara performs on my lower lashes as I only ever put a touch on them. Maybe I’ll have to experiment more. 😉

This looks like a great mascara! You ladies are all making me want to try more expensive mascaras. I tend to stick to d/s for mascara. 🙂

Pammy I resisted expensive mascara for a LONG time and I still try to find a drugstore version I like but sometimes buying a $30 tube you know you love makes more sense that 3 $10 drugstore ones that you trash or just put up with before finding the right one.

I’m a mascara fiend and I’m looking forward to seeing all the posts on this subject! I tried one version of this- not sure if it was the original or the Excess now- and I liked the effect, but it had an inky/ chemical smell that almost made me sick. Too bad, because it’s probably the only Armani purchase I’ve made that I haven’t absolutely loved.

Kate I wonder if it was Excess then? I’ve not noticed any smell with the original.

This was so close to winning for me. I do love this mascara. I wasn’t a fan of Excess but my niece who loves tons of volume loves it. The original Armani will always be a favorite of mine.

mascara is such a tough one for me. i think i’ve tried every high-end formula out there. all the ones that everybody raves about. basically, they all just make my lashes droop. too wet, too heavy, too glossy-wet. none of them keep the curl. i use either a shu, chanel, or lancome curler before i apply mascara. the only type of mascara that i’ve ever found to keep my lashes up and curled is waterproof — because they are usually drier. so i’ve tried all the waterproof formulas i can get my hands on. many disappoint because they aren’t as dark/black as we all love or they flake. the past year i’ve been using Maybelline Volum’ Express One-By-One Waterproof Mascara or Dior Diorshow Waterproof. still no holy grail. sigh. definitely gonna try this Armani Eyes To Kill now!!
