shu uemura Mint & Vanilla Palette from the Chocolat Donna Autumn Winter 2012 Collection ~ Swatches, Photos, Review

More incredible shu uemura beauty to share with you today. I’m sorry to be such a temptress! Another eyeshadow palette released as part of the Autumn Winter 2012 Chocolat Donna shu uemura collection is the Mint & Vanilla Palette ($85 CAD).  I was at first certain that the Orange & Pistachio palette would be my favourite but now that I have tried Mint & Vanilla on my eyes I am not so sure. I think I like them equally for different purposes. While the two “fun shades” are a bit more cool toned than in the Orange & Pistachio palette the rest of the palette is definitively more warm. Since the more “fun shades” are used primarily as accents the overall effect of the Mint & Vanilla Palette is much warmer than her Orange & Pistachio sister.
I will quote my thoughts on the packaging from my previous review:

The packaging is small, sleek, and compact. I love that these palettes contain an amazing 6 colour selections (at 1.0 g each) and they take up so little room. The compact does include a mirror and thankfully the lack of sponge tipped applicators makes for a space saving (and refillable!) design. The gorgeous gold script design on deep chocolate brown packaging is very sophisticated an umm… yummy. Like a glam little chocolate bar!

The shu uemura Mint & Vanilla Palette contains a glittery amber gold, glittery mint green, matte ivory, shimmering taupe brown, matte red toned brown, and matte espresso with small sparkle.
Before swatching the shades in the Mint & Vanilla palette I thought the last three shades were almost identical to those in the Orange & Vanilla Palette but I quickly realized just how different they really are. The first two shades are the glitter formula that is a little bit harder to work with and pick up pigment. With a primer though I had no issues with fallout! It was just a matter of picking up enough product and I think a different brush would have easily rectified that. The remaining four shade are absolutely dreamy. Pigmented, smooth, creamy, heavenly! Such exceptional mattes! I mean look at these swatches. That is one swipe of my finger!
I know I’ve yet to share my look with the Orange & Pistachio Palette with you but here is a peek at a quick look I did with the Mint & Pistachio Palette today for a quite day at home. I was very surprised at how yellow gold the first shade looked applied to my eyes. Applied to my cool skin the red in the matte chocolate shade really stood out and proclaimed it’s individuality in comparison to the Orange & Pistachio Palette.

The collection will be available exclusively at Holt Renfrew this August 2012.

Products sent by the company for my consideration. All reviews are always my own honest and unbiased opinions.

I wasn’t terribly interested in this collection (rather have a real bar of chocolate, lol) but your pictures changed my mind!

If the glitter shades are like the regular Shu glitters, I believe they’re best used as a ‘topcoat’ over other eyeshadows, preferably applied with a finger — that’s how Uchiide san did it on me anyway 😀

These are so beautiful, especially on you!! I love your “favorites” because except for auburn hair, I am a fellow “paleface”, but I am also a bit older than you are … thank you for the post. They are simply gorgeous and reasonably priced, in my humble opinion. xoxo Beth in Pgh 😉

I found a coupon code for Shu, valid until Aug 31, 2012. Enter SHU4BLOG for 10% off and free shipping.

I spent 15 mins trying to figure out if this applies to Canadian customers, but I can’t seem to change the country. ?!!! Does this mean that Shu doesn’t ship to Canada at all?! This can’t be true.

BooBooNinja the US website does not ship to Canada but we are lucky enough to have counters at Holt Renfrew where as the US only has a limited selection online. If you aren’t near a Holt Renfrew you can just call a counter and do a phone order! I really wish Holt Renfrew would just start offereing online shopping though. I hate using the phone!

The 10% savings would be nice. I’d like to try their cleansing oils. Do you know if Shu sells minis around Christmas time?

I’m not sure about minis. I’m 2 hours from Holt Renfrew so I’m not there often. I will say I’m testing their newest Cleansing Oil right now and LOVING it. I will have a review up hopefully next week.

Ack. My screen went funny while I was typing up comment #8. I clicked a few times so a gobbledeegook comment may appear. Must be the internet telling me I need to go for my run. It’ll be my third run in 5 months. Wish me luck! 😛

I guess my comment 8 disappeared.
I said that I reread comment 7 and I didn’t mean to sound bitter. I have plenty of cleansers and cosmetics to occupy me and I’m fortunate to live reasonably close to a Holt Renfrew. Chalk up the disgruntlement to being surprised to find a major brand that isn’t fully accessible online. By the way, does Shu charge S&H to send you a package? Ok. Time for my run! (I’ve been wearing my running clothes for nigh on 5 hours.)

I love rich, brown palettes. I’m surprised with how much I like the light green shades. It looks so different on your arm than in the pan!
