Here she is. The piece de resistance of the Yves Saint Laurent Autumn Winter 2012/2013 collection.
She doesn’t disappoint does she?
THE IT PRODUCT ~ PALETTE COUTURE $68 – The star accessory for autumn, the Palette Couture has morphed into a jewel bedecked with a crocodile motif, the emblem of the YSL accessories and leathergoods collection. The patina-khaki and gold engraved compact plays on the contrasting matte and glossy theme to reveal a delicate powder stamped with a “scale” pattern.“Flush” blush Fleshy pink, golden beige, rosy black-brown. A harmony of 3 subtle shades that adapt to all skin tones. By blending them, you can sculpt the cheeks and create a radiant, custom-tailored blush.
Three softly luminous, natural, blushing shades embossed with a pattern than makes you wonder how on earth scales could look so darn beautiful.
The palette applies a little more warmly on my cool skin than I was hoping for but the overall effect achieved has delighted me nonetheless. The powder is very smooth and in no way powdery or chalky. It melts into the skin for a very natural, subdued glow. Below are the three shades swatched individually from left to right with a wider band of the shades blended together on the right. These are heavier swatches applied with a sponge tip applicator.
Once I have completed my individual reviews I will share with you a Face of the Day post using the Yves Saint Laurent Fall items to better show them in action.
Bottom line. The Palette Couture lives up to it’s luxurious persona.
The fall YSL products should be hitting Canadian Holt Renfrew counters in August along with select Bay, Murale, and Sephora boutiques. I know it is rolling out as we speak in some US stores.
