Maybelline Eye Studio Quads in Smokey Night and Coral Oasis ~ Swatches, Photos, Review

Maybelline has released 3 new Eye Studio Quads as part of their Fall 2012 collection.
  • Smokey Night
  • Gutsy Green
  • Coral Oasis
I have Smokey Night and Coral Oasis to share with you.

Three new gorgeous on-trend silk eyeshadow quads provide eyes with shockingly rich colour and smooth feel. Our silk powder technology uses a wet process formula – gently pressed and allowed ample drying time, providing true suppleness and comfort. Easy to blend yet featherlight, this silk formula reflect light for a natural lustrous finish.

Coral Oasis is a gorgeous palette for blue eyed gals and for any lover of a warm neutral look. I am particularly in love with the finish of the first pale peach shade. These are nicely pigmented and smooth. It is a foolproof combination of colours. These Eye Studio Quads did not wear as well for me as the Maybelline Luminous Lights Quads but a primer will help with the fading.
I was wowed by the dimensional shades and shimmer of the Smokey Night quad when I was taking my photos. Especially that first blackened plum shade. So pretty. Unfortunately the shimmer and dimension didn’t quite carry through to the swatches. This palette seemed to have a bit dryer and chalkier texture compared to the smoother Coral Oasis. On the eye all four shades apply as almost the same shade of flat black. I’m not sure if there is something off with my palette but it was very odd. You can see how the swatches don’t reflect the beautiful shades in the pan but on the eye the nuances of the shades were even less apparent. I did try over a primer as well.

The new Maybelline Eye Studio Quads for Fall 2012 have already hit stores. They retail for $11.99 CDN.

  1. Margo says:

Wow! Great pics and swatches. I’ve been curious about these, and I love the smokey one!! Thanks!

  2. I always hear that these shadows are great, but I still haven’t tried them. Such fun colors! That Coral Oasis one reminds me vaguely of the Dior quint for Summer 2012 in Aurora…but maybe thats just me?

  3. Darn! I was hoping the Smokey Night Quad would apply as beautifully as the swatches. I guess I had high hopes for it because I’ve been hearing some great things about other Maybelline products. I guess my search continues for a reasonably priced smokey duo/quad.
