This is my first Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) Pure Chromatics Wet & Dry Eye Shadow palette. When I saw the promo pictures for YSL Summer Look 2012 I was smitten. There are so many products from this collection that caught my eye. Originally I thought I wanted the No9 Stone palette and then I saw Adventures in Makeup‘s post on the collection. I quickly changed my mind. I originally had both the Golden Gloss #51 as well but tried to hold strong and started out first with the very summer inspired Shell No7 quad. I can see how the shades in this can be reminiscent of a beautiful shell on the beach but for me this palette says sunset!

The back of the palette is vented to allow shadows and applicators to dry after being used wet.
Shades are:
- golden rose
- golden pearl
- golden orange
- burnt red
I swatched the palette for you both wet and dry. The shadows are pretty sheer dry but still offer decent pigment. Used wet they are intense in both pigment and sheen. I did find using wet it seemed to eat up a lot of shadow. Notice the beautiful pink and blue irridescent sparkle in the pearl shade as well as the oh so subtle gleam of pink coming from the golden orange!

I am in love with the shades in this quad. I’m not quite sure yet how I feel about how they look on me but regardless they are gorgeous!

But if you think those warm colors may not translate well on you, you should definitely trade it in for #9. I think you will love that palette.
