Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Intense Eyeshadow 23 Madra Perla – Swatches, Pics, Review

The Armani Beauty Bronze Color Collection for Summer 2012 has caused me quite a lot of stress. Why you may ask? Well it involves my inability to make a decision on items to purchase from the collection. There were so many beautiful items released that caught my eye that day after day I would be putting them in my Neiman Marcus online shopping cart then taking some back out again. Then all out, then all back in, then…well you get the idea. I managed, somehow, on my first order to only order the Eyes To Kill Intense Eyeshadow #20 Madra Perla. This is the one item I knew I had to have and it did not disappoint.
I mean look at that!
The gorgeous pale green and pink shimmer has been notoriously hard for us bloggers to catch on camera. I have heard so many reviews speaking of it’s beauty being hard to represent and I agree. I am so happy I know how to trust my fellow beauty addicts. I tried my best to capture Madra Perla’s complex and breathtaking beauty but alas I don’t think I faired too well. In person it made my heart skip a beat as soon as I swatched it. I was so relieved it lived up to my expectations. My naked eye was busy admiring the sparkly, multi-faceted dimension of the shade while through the camera lens I was seeing only a mere shadow of it’s true self. Hopefully the following pics will give you at least a hint of what to expect.
I swatched both wet and dry. I made a bit of a mess of my wet swatch using too much water but it will give you an idea. I actually don’t think I will find it necessary to use it wet. I found it wasn’t near as sheer as I expected and I think I prefer the effect of it dry. Wet I found it came off more as a mirrored white sheen as opposed to the dimensional shimmer of the dry product. Not to say you don’t see that effect with wet use but I preferred how it came across dry.
A blurry shot to capture the shimmer a little better on camera.
I have since ordered almost the rest of the Armani summer collection. Part of me feels sick over the disturbing amount of money I spent and the other part of me is relieved that I can stop obsessing about the decision! Ahh the struggles of a beauty addict.
I purchase this from Neiman Marcus. It can also be found at Barney’s, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Saks, Holt Renfew, and of course the Giorgio Armani Beauty website .

This still isn’t at my Armani counter (or wasn’t the last time I checked), but I’ve told myself that I’ll be getting myself a few presents in celebration of… Well, I’ll work that out later, but I’m definitely showering myself with presents.

I thought I could pass on this one at first, since I have a couple of duo-tone white shadows already (Mac Pink Opal, Vellum and Vex spring to mind), but thanks to your review and a couple of others, I’m pretty much convinced that I have to have it.

I bought that color a few weeks back, why does mine say 23 on the back? I was hoping it would have more pink to it, but when I took pictures , it just showed green even on my eyes, but it is a gorgeous color none the less. I wanted 20 which is the black/teal color, but seriously it just looks black on my lids. Although it does swatch pretty on my finger! LOL

Thanks Vicki! I have no idea why I put 20! That is the one I debated on the most thinking I wouldn’t have much use for something that dark other than a liner. I have no idea why I went ahead and ordered it any was. *sigh*

Kate I would have to think it is fairly unique to your collection from the sounds of it. It’s great you have a counter to go check them out. That would have made my life A LOT easier!

I went to the counter to check #20 (the darkest one) but came home with this one.
It is just so beautiful. I am not so sure if it suits me or not as I normally wear darker shade.
But the colour is just too beautiful to resist.
and it is definately not white or pearly colour like in most of the photos I have seen on website.
It actually reminds me mermaid tail. (but I don’t know why.:P)
