My Chanel Blush Collection – Joues Contraste Swatches, Pics, and More

Behold my Chanel blush collection. Unfortunately several of these shades were limited edition or discontinued but hopefully this will still be a good reference and comparison tool for you current and future Chanel enthusiasts out there. The US Joues Contraste formula is probably my absolute favourite powder blush formula. They are perfectly pigmented, smooth, and have the most beautiful subtle shimmer. Occasionally shades are released with more prominent shimmer like Orchid Rose and Espiegle. All of the Joues Contraste blushes featured are the US formula with the exception of Rouge, Rose Tourbillon, Pink Explosion, Plum Attraction, and Rose Temptation which were all released in the US in the Euro/Canadian baked formula. I am not really a fan of the baked formula as it becomes hard over time and more difficult to pick up pigment. The shimmer is also not as lovely as that in the US formulation. They are still outstanding blushes though and with the right brush a dream to work with.
The following swatches are all one swipe with a sponge applicator.
Rouge~Tweed Fuchsia~Rose Tourbillon~Pink Explosion~Rose Petale~Narcisse~Horizon de Chanel

Plum Attraction~Rose Tempation~Rose Dust~Rose Ecrin~Soho de Chanel dark shade~SdC all shades blended
Fandango~Mocha~Nude~Orchid Rose~Espiegle
Unfortunately this photo did not turn out. The sun was far too intense. I’m sure as heck not going to complain about too much sun though! These blushes are arranged in the same order as the swatch photos above. I will try to put up a better representation of the blushes in their pans once I get one.

I hope you enjoyed this little bit of eye candy and peek into my collection.
Edit: I have since added more Joues Contraste blushes to my collection. You can click on the link to view swatches.

My Chanel blushes are my absolute favorites. I’m trying very, very hard not to get Malice.

I love the look of Pink Explosion, but I have Rose Tourbillion so I don’t think I need both. :/

I have not one Chanel blush. Not one. The baked ones is mostly what I’ve come across and I too don’t care for them so much. But you say the US version is different?

Laci I hate to say it but Pink Explosion and Rose Tourbillon are really quite different. Cafe Makeup said they will be re-releasing it in the US formula. I am all over it!

Tracy the US version is MILES different. I order them from Neiman Marcus online. Works out even cheaper than buying the baked ones at the counter here.

What’s the difference between the US and non-US versions of Chanel blushes? Is the eyeshadow formula different as well?

    *covers ears* Lalalalalala

I did, however, cave and get Malice. *sigh*

The Euro/Canadian versions are baked. Not the typical powder formula as offered in the US. The baked formula can start out pigmented but then they harden over time and it gets harder to pick up pigment on your brush. I don’t find them as smooth as the US powders. The same goes for the eye shadow quads. The duos and singles are all the same.

Epic! I started last winter, and have merely Or, Rouge, Rose Ecrin, Rose Tourbilon, and Narcisse. For some reason I really want Plum Attraction.

Nice collection Leigh! You’re in luck because Pink Explosion and Plum Attraction are being re-released in the US formula!

Chanel blush is the only blush I have and will ever use. The pigment in all of them is so right on for my pale skin. Worth the money and so indulgent.

That is an impressive collection! It really spans the color rage from cool and deep to warm and soft.

I used to have around six JC blushes, but I gave them away or sold them. The only one I have now is Pink Explosion. I love the color, but it’s so powdery. I think it was made in France, so maybe that explains it. Powdery, not creamy.

Oh, I also have Rouge, but not for long.

Excuse me??!! I thought Rouge was one of your favourite blushes??!! You better give me a good heads up on your next blog sale. I have a feeling it’s going to be deadly. 😉

Now that’s a collection!! I used to have more Chanel blushes but I stopped buying them once I bought Narcisse and the fragrance was so strong that I couldn’t tolerate it. That was my last one. As pretty as they are, the fragrance frightens me.

Marcia I am not a fan of scent in my skincare etc but for some reason I LOVE the scent of the JC blushes. It just makes me feel special! LOL

Drool worthy stash!! I am getting lightheaded just looking at this formidable collection of Chanel blushes. I have the Euro version of Pink Explosion, Pink Cloud, Rose Tourbillon, and the US & Euro versions of Narcisse- so nothing by comparison!!

Christa, I almost fainted when I saw this collection; I am a total nut when it comes to Chanel & have been collecting their cosmetics for over 20 years now, but for some reason, I never really got into their blushes all that much until about a year ago….now If feel like I have so much catching up to do and seeing your impressive stash, has galvanized me even more *my bank account is very mad at you right now, lol* Your swatches are impressive, my dear! Love this!

Beautiful collection, and lovely swatches! I’ve never tried a Chanel blush! Well, none of the JC blushes, anyway. I think I may need to change this 🙂

Just purchased orchid rose blush. US version. The Chanel blushes are by far the best out there. I had “Orgasm” by NARS, I have to say what I hoped it would be, Orchid Rose is. I find NARS a little chalky. The Chanel is heavenly, and lasts a long time. It’s a good value, it’s indulgent and luxurious, and smells wonderful. Love your collection!
