Stila Sparkle Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in Rock Candy – Swatches and Review

On my shopping adventure the other weekend (that seemed to have a “fun liquid liner” theme) I also picked up one of Stila’s new Sparkle Waterproof Liquid Eye Liners in Rock Candy. A fabulous copper, bronze, brown glittering shade. From the Stila Cosmetics website:
Introducing Stila’s new Sparkle Waterproof Liquid Eye Liners, color-rich, vibrant, easy-to-use waterproof eye liners infused with twinkling multi-pearl micro-glitter that stays on all day and night.

These amazing new pigment-rich liquid liners contain a special polymer that adheres the glitter and pigment to the eyes for all-day, waterproof wear. Sparkle Waterproof Liquid Eye Liners are packaged in a uniquely designed long handle, pen-like component for precision and ease. The thin sponge tip applicator also ensures perfect application every time. Key Benefits:

  • Perfect blend of pearls and intense pigment
  • Waterproof and long-wearing
  • Easy-to-use, long-handled pen-like component with soft sponge applicator

USAGE: Shake well before using. Sweep tapered sponge applicator along lash line. Use tip of pen to create a thin, clean line. For a thick, bold line, position pen at an angle and apply with slightly more pressure. Remove with an oil-based eye makeup remover.Size: 1.7 m

In my opinion these are quite a bit more glittery than a lot of the Make Up For Ever new waterproof liners. Other differences between the two brands are that I find the applicator tip of the Stila liner to be softer and more flexible (which may be a pro or con depending on your preference). The Stila takes also a little longer time to set allowing for more blending if you like to soften the hard lines of your liner application. Wear time was excellent as I happened to be having a horrible day with my left eye watering like crazy all day. My eye shadow turned into a hot mess but at the end of the day my liner still looked almost perfect. In the end I’m wondering if this might be a bit too glittery for me. I’m not in my twenties anymore and my eyelids are far from a perfect canvas so I found this to accentuate my flaws a little too much. If this is not an issue for you then this liner is GORGEOUS and truly is waterproof.  A great way to add a little fun to your look without being over the top.

Ooooooh, I like the Rock Candy! That’s the one I should have gone with instead of Royal and Electric. I don’t know what I was thinking when I bought those, haha.

I agree with you that the staying power is amazing, and I also agree that they may be a bit much for our, ahem, more experienced eyes. But I think that color is amazing, and if any of them would work, that should be the one!

I’d love to see you post a pic while wearing it so we can see what it looks like around the eye…we’d all tell you the truth as to whether or not you should continue using it, hint hint!!

I hope you’d tell me the truth!! I do have a pic actually from an upcoming FOTD post. I was going to use one in the review but I was having a bit of trouble locating it. LOL

I bought this one recently as well, I like how long wearing it is but it doesn’t feel that comfortable on, but then my eye lids are dry. I bought quite a bit of Stila in one lot and they had no testers out (was a new display in store) so some of my choices were not so great ;)

Actually I found it a bit uncomfortable as well but since I’ve been having such issues with my eyes lately I didn’t want to attribute it to the liner without knowing for sure. There are certainly some fun colours to be tempted by ;-)
