The Beauty Detox Solution. Care to join me?

The book I’m just finishing up reading is The Beauty Detox Solution by Kimberly Snyder. This book shouted out to me from the small book display at my local Shopper’s Drug Mart. What made it stand out was the word Detox. I’ve managed a very intensive 7 day detox at one time and I was eager to try again with more long term goals in mind. When I saw beauty and detox combined in one book title with the addition of some well known celebrity endorsements on the cover I quickly scooped it up. I have to say this book is EXCELLENT. It speaks to me as it revolves around health topics that I have strongly believed in for several years but haven’t had the motivation and dedication to follow through with lately. This book has been an incredible motivation to get me back on the right track. Kimberly has a way of getting her point across in a manner that leaves you nodding your head with enthusiast “ah ha” moments and anxious to hear more, always with data to back it up.
I followed a lot of the ideals behind this program when I modified my diet in an attempt to ease my son’s colic when I was breastfeeding him. Less that one year after his birth I was the thinnest I’ve been in a decade (yes even long before my two kids) and, more importantly, I felt fantastic. Unfortunately, for the most part, when I stopped breastfeeding him and returned to work I abandoned most of my new healthier habits and I’ve returned to the unhappy, unhealthy state I had been in the past. I won’t get into all the details of the program here but fire me off an email or start looking into Kimberly’s program if you’d like to hear more.
I know it’s time to get my butt in gear and start trying to live the lifestyle I want for myself, for my future and the future of my health and family. I struggle with the motivation to get started and stick with it so if anyone is interested in joining me in a quest for better health I would love the company! You don’t necessarily have to follow this program but I think it’s a great read if you’re interested ;-)

    I do not know with the eating, i’m a firm believer that if you stick with the the canadian (or US i’m sure they are similar) food guide you should be ok, Which mean eating a lot of vegetables and fruits, good grains and stay away from junk food. I have to say to get back in shape (my little boy will be 1 tomorrow july 19th) I went back to running long distance, I did run a half marathon in May in Ottawa and planning to run two other half marathon (August Mont-Tremblant and in Sept Montreal). I did loose all the baby wait in about 5 months after his birth and now i’m at my best shape ever! Even yesterday I ran 27km. So if the book help motivate you, Good! but really to stay on track register at some sport meet or join a club (Dragon-Boat, running clinic etc) That will help you in the long run. :)

    I read your post earlier today and it sounds interesting. I’m thinking of getting the book to check it out. :) Thank you for alerting me to its existence! I have lost some weight through my own effort so far, but need a boost to get to my goal (which is a long way off.. haha).

    Valerie I would love to be able to take part in some sort of activity like that both for my health and sanity! Unfortunately with a full time job, 2 kids under 3 and living in the middle of nowhere getting out for anything like that is impossible. Best I think I can hope to aim for is some home workout videos once I figure out how to fit in my schedule. Congrats on your weight loss and especially on the marathons! That’s amazing!

    reene even if you didn’t want to follow all the recommentations in the book there is some really great information in it.
