Face of the Day with the LORAC Snake Charmer Palette

I have a love/hate relationship with LORAC…well maybe not love/hate, more like love/meh. I love that their eyeshadows are very pigmented and blendable but I’m not too fond of how they all seem to have the same frosty finish. There just isn’t the same lovely variations in shimmer and effect that I see from my favourite high end brands. Pigmentation is very important to me though, so I love the palettes I have enough to keep them around and I thought it was time I show one of them a little love.
The Snake Charmer palette contains 4 eyeshadows: Enchanted Ivory, Mystical Gold, Charmed Copper, Royal Brown and a blush Hypnotizingly Peach in an adorable “snakeskin” flip top palette. All are soft, richly pigmented and easy to work with. I think this palette can still be found some places deeply discounted although it is likely getting quite hard to find.

I almost bought the new bronze palette from LORAC the other day but decided to abstain because of the frosty finish. Beautiful colors, great pigmentation (and it was a great deal), but being outside in strong sunlight in the summer just sets off that shimmer, and it was a bit much for me.

However, you did a wonderful understated look and your eyes aren’t glowingly frosty, so maybe I’ll head back for another look!

Hi Shannon. Ya regardless of my disdain for the finish when on the eyes it does look good. Some of those pics are in direct sunlight. I wish there was more uniqueness to the finish of their shadows but at the same time they are great in their own right. 😉

Glad to see someone else loves this palette as much as I do! It’s still one of my top 10 and I wore it just the other day. I’ve never hit pan on so many e/shadows in one palette! I want to see you wearing the arm band though 🙂

LOL I didn’t score the arm band. I swapped for my palettes and they were missing the packaging 😉

The palette looks gorgeous and the shades look great on you! I actually really wanted this when it was released but I had trouble finding it here in the UK, will have to have another look around for it. Love the lip colour too!

I don’t own or know anything about this brand. Thanks for mentioning some more unknown brands (to me at least).

I also feel meh about LORAC sometimes. I think this is a great palette on you, though. Are you wearing just the blush? Your cheeks are very glowy in the picture.

They’re such pretty neutral colours. I have this same meh feeling when it comes to Urban Decay. No variation is finish gets a bit too much after a while! x

Very pretty! I think I had this but gifted it away- sorry I did that now. I think the only Lorac thing I have now is a powder brush!

Jenn LORAC has some really great products and offer great sales on their website too to you lucky americans!

ZuZu I’m wearing the blush as well as MAC Too Chic Beauty powder on the top of the cheekbones. I just realized I didn’t do a full list of products used. Ooops! The blush is very glowy though.

Thank Make-up Fairy! I was really happy with how that combo came out too.

Jane that is exactly it and I do share the same feeling with the Naked palette which is the only UD I own. I’ve been back and forth so many times on that palette!

MM I hate regret after I’ve parted with something. Sometimes I need to give things more of a chance 😉

I have never tried any LORAC products. I have seen them and think they look so pretty in the palette but still have never got around purchasing any. I really love these colors on you, the shadows look so smooth on your lid, and I like the finish. Great FOTD!

    LOL at the “love/meh”.

LOL Thanks Diane! They do have a lot of nice products and for those of you who can pop into a Sephora and try things out first it’s all the better.
