Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Eyeliner in Rose Platine – Swatches and Review

I thought it was time I did a proper review of Chanel Rose Platine eyeliner. I posted about it when I first received my Chanel Summer 2011 haul here and spoke about it again in this FOTD. I wasn’t very pleased with Rose Platine originally and felt there must be something wrong with me as everyone else seemed to be utterly wowed by it. Well I’ve made a point of using the liner a couple times a week and it has definitely grown on me. It is a sort of champagne taupe with warm multi-coloured sparkle. It is gorgeous on the lower lash line and if layered can even give a nice effect on the upper lashline. This liner is INSANELY long wearing. When they say waterproof they mean it! After I was done taking these pics I took a dry hand towel and scrubbed at it vigorously and it looked untouched! Truly and honesty untouched! I then took a wet paper towel and scrubbed at it and all that managed to do was dull the finish a bit. The next morning I got out of the shower only to realize the faint appearance of it was still there after washing with Dove soap. If this is what can be expected of the other Chanel Stylo Yeux liners then I think I may have to check them out. I haven’t really been a pencil liner gal but recently I’ve started acquiring and enjoying a few.

Well it certainly draws hearts nicely. I think I would only use that for under eye application. It’s a loverly taupe tho!

Yes it’s pretty. Don’t know if the price warrants buying just for lining under the eyes. I always just do that with my eyeshadow. Guess I’ll keep her though ;-)

I just LOVE this liner… It’s completely unique!

As BlushingNoir said, it’s a very unique shade and looks really pretty in your swatches. Lasting power sounds fantastic too!

I heart this one! I double layer it on the upper lashes. I haven’t worn liner on my bottom lashes in SOOOO long, I will try it soon. xx

Interesting. It looks much warmer in your picture than the swatches by naturalNchicmakeup and Jeanie. Like lip gloss, I am not an eye pencil fan.

Picked this up also! Love the color. I have been wearing it on my lower lash line and I think it is a nice subtle pop to brighten the undereye area!

The late morning sun warmed the colour a bit but the question mark is a better representation of the colour ;-)

You did not say you wash your face with, I can’t even say it, don’t make me say it…Dove soap?!! The horrors!! ;)

Ok, (after that chastising) I’m glad you have come to your senses and like the pencil now. All those beauty bloggers (like me) can’t be wrong. :)

I treated myself to this, after seeing your first post! Yes, it is amazing stuff – I completely re-did my makeup at lunchtime yesterday, didn’t need to re-apply this liner – and it was still there, as if freshly applied, at the end of the day!! Took my best remover to get rid of it, lol! I love this, totally love it, and am going to get some more shades when I can afford it! Being very very pale myself it is a good colour for an everyday sort of look.

No silly Jenn!! After I was done taking the swatch pictures I tried to rub off the heart & ? swatch and then the next day it was still on my arm in the shower LOL I would never wash my face with Dove…well unless I was feeling particularly lazy LOL

I’m glad I stuck with it too. We have such similar tastes I should have known the love would come ;-)

I’m so glad you like it too_busy_to_stitch!!!

I was under-wowed by this liner too! For me, it is a little too light to be used by itself except for under the eyes. But I’ve found it looks great OVER a darker liner…so pretty when I have the time to do two liners! I wonder how the new khaki platine liner for fall will compare.
Is it just me or does NOTHING stay on the lower lashline?! Even the most longwearing liner disappears eventually on me. I’m tempted to use a Sharpie marker! LOL

Thanks carollu! I will try it over a dark liner. Great tip!

I’ve been admiring this liner from afar! I’m assuming I might have a chance at Khaki platine when it comes out this fall!

P.S. love the last picture =P

Thanks! Yes I’ll definately be picking up Khaki Platine if it’s anything like this.
